Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) has introduced one-year postgraduate programmes in 13 disciplines through its Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE). The programmes will be offered through Open and Distance Learning (ODL) and Online Learning (OL) modes.

The official office order was issued by JMI on September 21, 2026. The notification states that the programmes have been approved in accordance with the provisions of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and applicable UGC Regulations and amendments.

The new one-year PG programmes are designed for candidates who have completed a four-year undergraduate degree with honours or research. Eligible students can now pursue a Master’s degree in one year through JMI’s distance and online education system.

Who Is Eligible for JMI One-Year PG Programmes?

The eligibility criteria for the one-year postgraduate programmes are based on the guidelines mentioned under NEP 2020.

Candidates must have completed a four-year undergraduate degree with honours or research from a recognised institution. The undergraduate degree should be in a relevant discipline as required for the respective postgraduate programme.

Students who have completed a three-year bachelor’s degree programme will not be eligible for this one-year PG route. Such candidates will continue under the existing two-year postgraduate programme structure. Candidates are advised to check the official notification and admission guidelines before applying.
