An online refresher course on Environmental Science has been introduced by Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) for teachers of colleges and universities.
The university made an official announcement on October 7, 2020, through its website (jmi.ac.in)
It is for the first time that JMI is offering a refresher course for faculty members for a short duration of 2 weeks.
The event has been collaboratively organized by the Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC) and the Geography Department of the university.
Approximately 100 faculty members from various different colleges and universities including Jamia Millia Islamia had participated in the online refresher course executed in Google Meet.

During this program, eminent resource individuals and specialists from various universities, colleges, institutes in India and Abroad will interact with the participants.
Vice-Chancellor Najma Akhtar was the chief guest of the program.
In her inaugural address, she said that Multidisciplinary is the essence of the first online refresher course on Environmental Science.

She also added that the interdisciplinary approach is supposed to be the right option to address modern challenges faced by society.
Najma Akhtar further states the need for these courses considering the COVID-19 pandemic situations.
Akhtar explained the interdisciplinary approach between biological sciences and physical science on the one hand and social sciences on the other hand.
She also stated that researchers from all fields should work together to develop technology that solves problems related to environmental science.
