Documents Required for Online Reporting

Candidates must keep scanned copies of the following documents ready before starting the reporting process.

  • JoSAA provisional seat allotment letter for Round 3.
  • Class 10 mark sheet or birth certificate for date of birth proof.
  • Class 12 board examination pass certificate and mark sheet.
  • JEE Main 2026 admit card and JEE Main score card.
  • JEE Advanced 2026 admit card and score card, if applicable.
  • Category certificate for OBC-NCL, SC, ST or EWS candidates.
  • PwD certificate issued by the competent authority, if applicable.
  • Two recent passport size photographs matching the JEE application photo.
  • Valid photo ID proof such as Aadhaar card or PAN card.

Seat Acceptance Fee Details

Every first-time allottee must pay the Seat Acceptance Fee (SAF) during online reporting. The fee amount depends on the candidate category as shown below.

Category Seat Acceptance Fee (SAF)
General, OBC-NCL, EWS Rs 30,000
SC, ST, PwD Rs 15,000

For General, OBC-NCL and EWS candidates, Rs 5,000 is a non-refundable processing charge. The balance Rs 25,000 is later adjusted against the institute admission fee. Payment is accepted through online modes such as net banking, debit card, credit card or UPI. Candidates who already paid the SAF in Round 1 or Round 2 need not pay again. The earlier payment is carried forward automatically to Round 3.

What Are the Freeze Slide and Float Options?

After confirming the allotted seat, candidates must select one willingness option on the portal.

  • Freeze: The candidate accepts the current seat and exits further counselling rounds.
  • Slide: The candidate stays in the allotted institute but seeks a higher-preferred branch.
  • Float: The candidate accepts the current seat but remains open to any higher choice.

The chosen option decides participation in the next allotment round. Round 3 is not the final round of JoSAA 2026 counselling. Candidates opting for Slide or Float will be considered again in Round 4.

Why This Matters

Missing the July 8 reporting deadline cancels the allotted seat automatically. The portal does not accept late fee payment or document uploads. Candidates then lose the seat and forfeit their claim on the current round.

Action Plan for Candidates

  1. Log in to josaa.admissions.nic.in and download the Round 3 allotment letter.
  2. Pay the Seat Acceptance Fee if this is your first allotment in JoSAA 2026.
  3. Upload all required documents such as mark sheets, category proof and photo ID.
  4. Choose Freeze, Slide or Float based on your admission preference.
  5. Track the portal for any reporting centre query and respond by July 9 at 5 PM.
Keep an Eye On
