MCC NEET UG Counselling 2026 Revised Information Bulletin Released; Check Major Changes

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has released the revised National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET UG) Counselling 2026 Information Bulletin on its official portal at mcc.nic.in. The bulletin governs admission to 15 percent All India Quota seats in medical and dental colleges. It also covers AIIMS, JIPMER, ESIC, AFMC, Central Universities and Deemed Universities.

The revised document introduces a new Freeze and Float system after seat allotment. It also allows online resignation of allotted seats through the MCC portal. Physical reporting is no longer mandatory only for candidates who choose to upgrade their seat.

What Are the Major Changes in NEET UG Counselling 2026?

The revised bulletin brings three student-facing changes that affect every candidate. Each rule is designed to cut down repeated travel and paperwork.

• Freeze and Float system: After allotment, a candidate can Freeze the seat or Float for a better one in the next round.
• Online resignation: Candidates can now surrender an allotted seat through the MCC portal within the deadline.
• No dual reporting on upgrade: Those who upgrade need not physically report at the first allotted college.

NEET UG Counselling 2026 Registration Fee and Security Deposit

The fee structure differs sharply between government quota seats and Deemed University seats. The security deposit is refundable if the candidate follows the stated exit rules.

A candidate applying for both government and Deemed seats pays only the higher applicable amount. The registration fee is non-refundable in all cases.

NEET UG Counselling 2026 Round 1 Revised Schedule

MCC has extended the Round 1 choice filling window in the revised schedule. The seat allotment result has also been moved forward accordingly.

How Does the New Freeze and Float System Work?

After a candidate is allotted a seat, the portal shows two options. The choice must be made within the reporting window notified by MCC.

• Freeze: The candidate accepts the seat and reports physically to the college. No further participation is allowed in later rounds.
• Float: The candidate accepts the seat but stays in the pool for a better allotment. Willingness and documents are submitted online.

The Float option removes the earlier need to report twice when the seat is upgraded. Physical reporting happens only once, at the final allotted college.

How to Register for NEET UG Counselling 2026?

Registration is fully online on the MCC portal. Candidates should keep scanned documents and payment method ready before starting.

1. Visit the official portal at mcc.nic.in.
2. Click on the NEET UG 2026 counselling registration link.
3. Enter the NEET UG roll number, application number and date of birth.
4. Fill personal, academic and contact details as per the NEET score card.
5. Pay the registration fee and security deposit for the chosen quota.
6. Fill and lock choices within the notified window.

Counselling Rounds and Exit Rules

MCC will conduct four rounds in the 2026 cycle. Candidates should note the exit rules before choosing Freeze or Float.

• Seat upgradation is allowed only through Round 1, Round 2 and Round 3.
• Online resignation of an allotted seat is permitted only within notified round deadlines.
• No resignation or fresh participation is allowed after Round 3 closes.
• Candidates already allotted a seat under MCC or state counselling cannot enter the Stray Vacancy round.

Action Plan for Candidates

1. Read the revised information bulletin on mcc.nic.in in full.
2. Keep the NEET UG 2026 score card, Class 10 and 12 marksheets and ID proof ready.
3. Complete Round 1 registration and pay the correct fee for your quota.
4. Lock choices before 11:59 PM on August 18, 2026.
5. Decide between Freeze and Float within the reporting window after allotment.
