MIT, IIT Kanpur Launches Seed Fund to Facilitate Collaborative Research Efforts; Check Details Here

New Delhi: The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT Kanpur) and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) have joined hands for the introduction of MIT, IIT Kanpur Seed Fund, marking a momentous occasion in the field of global academia and innovation. 

“Another outstanding collaboration program between the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and India is making further achievements in Indo-US partnership, " remarked Abhay Karandikar, Director of IIT Kanpur. 

This collaboration represents a union of intellectual prowess, combining the expertise and resources of IIT Kanpur, a leading technical institute in India, with MIT Cambridge, one of the world's most prestigious and cutting-edge research universities. 

The partnership is driven by a shared commitment to advancing knowledge across various fields, fostering technological advancements, and addressing some of the most pressing global challenges.

The MIT-IIT Kanpur Seed Fund will facilitate research collaboration between IIT Kanpur and MIT academics. This relationship marks a watershed moment, as IIT Kanpur is the first Indian university to form a partnership with MIT, which operates similar funding efforts in over 40 countries around the world.

The application process for innovative research initiatives and collaborations is now open. Faculty and researchers from other Indian institutions are also welcome to apply as co-applicants. The deadline for applications is December 12, 2023. 

Candidates can find more information and application procedures available at misti.mit.edu/faculty-funds. This endeavour is made possible by the generous co-ntributions of Mr Sudhakar Kesavan (BT/CHE/76), an IIT Kanpur and MIT alumni. 

Mr Kesavan has also generously donated to the creation of IIT Kanpur's Chandrakanta Kesavan Centre for Energy Policy and Climate Solutions. 

The MIT-IIT Kanpur Seed Fund is an annual fund that fosters exchange between MIT and IIT Kanpur staff and students, as well as calls for projects. Faculty and research scientists from other Indian institutions are able to be co-applicants on proposals.

MIT-India wishes to collaborate with teachers and research scientists from Indian research institutions (with a preference for projects including MIT and IIT Kanpur) to support early-stage initiatives and research collaborations, with grants of up to 30,000 USD available.
