Mumbai University's Institute of Distance and Open Learning (IDOL) has decided to conduct the re-examination for final year B.Com students from October 9. The varsity took this move after receiving a response from students complaining about the technical glitches while attempting the online examinations.
MU IDOL, accepted the fault and declared a circular on October 3, 2020 evening stating the final year examination revised dates for B.Com and BA students scheduled on October 9 and October 14 respectively.
Though the IDOL spokesperson Mr. Vinod Malale said that the cause of the glitch is yet to be detected. The problem faced by B.A. and B.Com students is too large in numbers, though the B.Sc. candidates have successfully completed their examination.
As the total number of unsuccessful candidates from B.Com and BA final year examinations also has not been detected, the Distance learning authority decided to retake the examinations for all the candidates.
MU’s IDOL is currently conducting online examinations for its undergraduate final year examinations of regular as well as repeater students from October 3 to October 17.
The problems and glitches faced by the students were also faced by the university staff when they tried to log-in upon students’ complaints. Students, upon trying to log-in to their examination, failed. Several attempts were made but the server showed an error message. Students also complained about the scarcity of technical staff to address the problem at the time of emergency.
The confusion of MU’s IDOL examination 2020 caused huge tension and fear among the students and guardians. The statement from the university and rescheduled examination timetable have truly rescued them out of their misery.
The rest of the examination schedule has kept unchanged until any new issue arises. The next examination of the MU’s IDOL is going to be conducted on October 6, 2020.
