Why the NEET UG 2026 Refund Is Being Processed
NTA had cancelled the NEET UG 2026 exam on May 12, 2026. The decision followed a confirmed paper leak in the May 3 exam. The agency scrapped the original test three days after the news surfaced.
A fresh re-examination was later held on June 21, 2026. The agency committed to refunding the full examination fee to every registered candidate. This applies even to those who appeared in the re-examination.
A dedicated refund portal was opened to collect verified bank account details. Many registered candidates had still not submitted their details before the July 7 cutoff.

Whose Bank Account Can Be Submitted?
NTA has laid down strict rules for the refund account. The account must be active and directly linked to the candidate.
- Account in the candidate's own name.
- Account in a parent's name.
- Joint account that includes the candidate's name.
Accounts held by other relatives or third parties will not be accepted. Wrong or mismatched IFSC codes will lead to refund failure.
NEET UG 2026 Refund Deadline Timeline
| Deadline | Status |
| June 30, 2026 | Original bank details submission cutoff |
| July 7, 2026 | First extension issued by NTA |
| July 14, 2026 | Final extension announced on July 7 |
When Will the Refund Be Credited?
The refund will be processed within 7 working days after July 14. The amount will be transferred to the account submitted on the portal. Candidates should keep the account active until the credit reflects.
Candidates missing the 11:50 PM cutoff will lose the refund claim. NTA has confirmed no further extension will be issued.
The refund covers the fee paid for the cancelled May 3 exam. Missing the July 14 cutoff means forfeiting the paid amount permanently, even for those who cleared the re-examination.
