Punjab Govt. All Set to Launch Post Matric Scholarship Scheme for SC Students; Read Details

Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, upon a press release on October 6, 2020, has declared to introduce a new Post Matric Scholarship for Scheduled Caste students of the state. He also introduced employment schemes in government sectors.

CM believes that the new scheme will be highly beneficial for SC students in pursuing higher learning in their various interested streams.

Earlier the Government of India had withdrawn the scholarship scheme, which affected the higher learning of weaker sections. Now the Government of Punjab is in the process to recast this Post Matric Scholarship scheme ensuring that no SC is deprived of higher education.

Additionally, in a virtual program on the culmination of the 6th State Level Mega Rozgar Mela, the Minister also stated that in the coming one and a half years, the Punjab Government is going to recruit nearly 1 lakh youth in various state Government sectors. The state govt. Aims to recruit 50,000 by March 2021 and the remaining 50,000 by the end of the term.

The Minister also stated the past employment details of Punjab regarding the last 3.5 years, which are as follows:

• A total of 13.42 Lakhs youth has been employed by the Punjab State Government. 
• Out of these, 50,000 youth have been appointed in Government jobs.
• Nearly 4.04 Lakhs youth have been given employment opportunities in the Private sectors.
• Aiding the self-employment ventures of 8.80 Lakhs youth was also done.
