Rajasthan Government to Reduce School Tuition Fees By 30 - 40%

Rajasthan Government has ordered to reduce the tuition fees of CBSE affiliated schools by 30 percent and state board schools by 40 percent on October 28, 2020.

The government of Rajasthan has ordered all the private schools affiliated with the CBSE board to reduce their tuition fees for classes 9 to 12 by 30%.

The schools affiliated with the state board should reduce their tuition fees by 40% for classes 9 to 12 according to this order.

The Education Department of Rajasthan has announced this order for fee reduction on October 28, 2020.

CBSE should reduce the tuition fee by 30 percent because of the reduced syllabus for classes 9 to 12 and the state board should reduce the tuition fee by 40 percent because of the reduced syllabus of 40 percent.

The official order stated, “ CBSE reduced the school syllabus from Class 9 to 12 by 30 percent, therefore their school tuition fees should be reduced by 30 percent. At the same time, the Rajasthan Board has reduced the syllabus by 40 percent, so they should reduce the fee by 40 percent.”

The High Court has ordered a reduction in school fees by 30 percent and Progressive Association School of Rajasthan has also filed a plea against it.

The plea stated that this decision is discriminatory and the association will go against its decision to the Supreme Court. 

If the fees are reduced by 30 to 40 percent, how would the schools be able to pay salaries for teachers, the plea questioned.

The department of education also submitted a report to the chief minister's office and seeks suggestions on reopening schools after November 2, 2020.

The report includes the guidelines and standard operating procedures to reopen the schools for classes 9 to 12.

No decision has yet been taken on the reopening of schools for classes 1 to 8. Hence decisions on their tuition fees will be made after the reopening of schools to those classes.

A committee was formed by the state government to discuss and decide on the fees issue because the schools are being closed from March 2020.

Many parents have been running campaigns stating 'No school, no fees'.
