Uttarakhand: State Govt to Reopen Schools for Classes 10, 12 from November 1

The government of Uttarakhand has permitted schools to reopen from November 1, 2020, for classes 10 and 12.

The government's spokesperson and cabinet minister, Madan Kaushik mentioned that this decision was taken by the Cabinet at the meeting organized by Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat.

He added that the district magistrates have given feedback after consulting with District Education Officers and parents. The decision was taken only after that.

Kaushik informed reporters that the schools will be opened for only those two classes and strict safety precautions will be taken by the schools.

The instruction was given to all the schools to ensure the compliance of standard operating procedures (SOP) issued by the Central Government.

He mentioned that besides other precautions, the schools should follow certain mandatory safety procedures such as wearing face masks, social distancing, and hand sanitizing.

Online classes will be continued and decisions on reopening school for the rest of the classes will be made based on how things turn out during the first month of the reopening.

The central government issued the Unlock-5 and left it to the state governments to declare school dates after proper assessment of the COVID 19 situation in their states.
