Schools in Mizoram to reopen for new session on July 15

The Mizoram government has announced that it will reopen the schools and begin the new academic session from July 15, 2020. The decision was taken during a gathering held between the departments concerned and stakeholders.

The meeting was chaired by Education Minister Lalchhandama Ralte. During the meeting, various stakeholders et al. unanimously agreed to open educational institutions under the Mizoram Board of faculty Education (MBSE) on July 15, 2020 and also open admission for Class 11 students on June 22, 2020, the official said.

During the meeting, it had been also decided that a new school calendar is going to be prepared for the 2020-21 school term to be effective from April 2020 to March 2021, the Education Minister said.

It was also decided that the schools should attempt to complete the syllabus without omitting any lesson or chapter during the tutorial calendar.

However, the allotted time for a lesson could be reduced and exercise should be minimised. As for higher secondary students, a lesson plan would be chalked out separately in accordance with the Central Board of education (CBSE) calendar because the students are yet to write down NEET 2020 or JEE Main 2020 examinations, the official said.

As per the reports, the Education Minister also informed during the meeting that each one school buildings used for quarantine facilities are expected to be vacated and sanitised by July 15 to facilitate students attend their respective schools.

"The CISCE also will found out an exam centre at Government Mizoram highschool in Aizawl," Ralte was quoted as saying by the official.

He also informed that quite 100 students in Mizoram, who have returned from different parts of the state due to the nationwide lockdown, are yet to finish taking exams for pending subjects under CBSE and CISCE. MBSE Class 12 board exams are going to be conducted from June 16-18, 2020 for pending subjects which of compartmental exams for MBSE Class 10 Board exam are going to be conducted on June 16, 2020.
