SERB increases the National Postdoctoral Fellowship Amount to INR 80,000 per month, starting from April 1, 2023.
New Delhi: The Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) has approved the revision of the fellowship amount of the National Postdoctoral Fellowship (NPDF) scheme. The amount has changed from INR M. Phil/ Ph.D in Science Colleges 50,000 per month to INR 80,000 per month.
SERB announced that the implementation of this fellowship will be effective from April 1.
The official notice from SERB said “National Postdoctoral fellowship under the SERB-NDPF scheme has already been provided a research grant of INR 2 Lakh Per Annum in addition to a fellowship of INR 50,000 plus HRA. Overhead amounting to INR 1 Lakh per annum is provided to the host institute to provide necessary administrative and infrastructural support to the fellow.”
The board added that the matter of the fellowship was under consideration. “The SERB Board has already approved the revision of fellowship of NPDF to INR 80,000 per month plus applicable HRA or INR 50,000 per month plus applicable HRA.”
In the year 2023, the University Grants Commission also announced an increase in fellowship amounts including Post Doctoral Fellowships for Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and women candidates.
Apart from that, SERB has also announced the JEST 2024 Examination Date. SERB has scheduled JEST 2024 on March 3, 2024, for candidates willing to pursue PhD, and Integrated PhD. The registrations are open till January 24, 2024.
