This year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which restricted movement and mass gatherings throughout the country, the SIH Software Edition was being conducted in an ONLINE mode.

Student participants, SIH coordinators and industry evaluators came together on a digital platform designed to facilitate the implementation of the event seamlessly, managed centrally by MHRD’s Innovation Cell & All India Council for Technical Education.

For the said purpose, Parul University was selected as one of the nodal centers to facilitate the SIH software edition operations and support to participants.

Total 30 teams having180 Participants competed against 06 Problem Statements from Government of SikkimEach Problem statement had a winning amount of Rs 1 lakh.

This year SIH team and experts from Participating Ministries/ Companies/ Organizations centrally monitored the performance of each student innovator during the hackathon and decided on funding their Innovation and on offering them an opportunity of internship or job at their organization.

Smart India Hackathon 2020: Highlights

Smart India Hackathon (SIH), the world’s biggest open platform for innovators and entrepreneurs started on August 1, 2020.

This was the 4th edition of highly successful Smart India Hackathon initiative.

Involves 2 Lakh+ students with 57,000+ ideas from 2200+ institutions against 530+ problem statements provided by 120+ organizations from across India.

Students across India compete creatively to solve problems of Ministries, Departments and Industries to give solutions

Harness expertise of students from AICTE/UGC approved institutions, IITs, NITs and IISc.

The event is being managed centrally by MHRD’s Innovation Cell & All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

The institute facilitated the 5-day operations of the SIH software edition and provide support to participants.

All students Pursuing degree or in AICTE Recognized institutes in India.

Smart India Hackathon 2020: What’s the Catch?

Each problem statement has a prize amount of One Lakh Rupees.

This year SIH team and experts from participating ministries/ companies/ organizations centrally monitored the performance of each student innovator during hackathon.

This event also decided on funding their Innovation and on offering them an opportunity of internship or job at their organization.
