The Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DMER), Tamil Nadu, has released the National Eligibility Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET UG) Round 2 seat matrix 2026 on the official portal at tnmedicalselection.net. The matrix lists vacant MBBS and BDS seats available for Round 2 allotment. These seats are spread across government, government-aided, and self-financing medical and dental colleges in the state.

The vacancy list covers the 85 percent state quota seats in government colleges and 100 percent seats in private medical colleges. Candidates who have registered for Round 2 must use this matrix to fill and lock their college and course preferences before the deadline.

Check the vacancies college wise and category wise.

Which Seats Are Covered Under Round 2?

For reference, the Round 1 seat matrix carried 8,063 MBBS seats and 1,859 BDS seats. The Round 2 pool reflects the vacancies left after Round 1 reporting closed on September 5, 2026. It also includes seats surrendered by candidates who chose to exit the process.

The vacancies cover government medical and dental colleges, government-aided institutions, and self-financing private colleges. Deemed universities and All India Quota seats do not fall under this state counselling.

How to Fill Choices for Tamil Nadu NEET UG Round 2?

Only candidates who completed Round 2 registration by September 8 can access the choice filling window. Log in with your registered credentials on the counselling portal to begin.

Add colleges and courses in order of preference based on the released vacancy list. Review the locked list carefully as changes are not allowed after 2:00 PM on September 13, 2026.

Why This Matters

Round 2 is the final chance for many candidates to secure a government MBBS seat in Tamil Nadu. Seats not filled or upgraded in this round move to the mop-up and stray vacancy rounds. Choice filling strategy in Round 2 often decides the final college a student joins.
