Telangana Govt's E-Learning Programme is a Success with 87 Percent Viewership on DD, says Official

The Special Chief Secretary for Higher Education in Telangana said that the e-learning programme, which was launched by the state government, has received positive feedback from students with 87 percent viewership on Doordarshan.

The distance learning programme was launched to make sure that there were no learning gaps since schools have remained closed since March.

“We got into action and are preparing digital content and graphics to our own teacher and we are ensuring that the quality education is being delivered to students,” she said.

She said that television and Internet platforms were chosen as they had greater reach. The learning programme is also being broadcasted through T-SAT (the government channel of Telangana) and T-SAT apps. The lessons are also available on YouTube.

Teachers are being trained for the programme, from scriptwriting to preparing video lessons and talking in front of a camera. “We have a studio and the digital content is being prepared there. It turned out to be very good quality. We are very proud of that,” the secretary said.

The department has standardized the schedule for classes 6 to 12. It has received requests for voiceover and has started giving lessons in English and Urdu.

“Everything was planned in detail. We are happy to say that it is a huge success and we have been able to realise the Chief Minister’s vision.”

The programme will be continued even after schools reopen. Soon, students will be assessed on the basis of assignments.
