The majority of Telangana students are seeking admissions in deemed or private universities, as the uncertainty prevails over EAMCET and Joint Entrance Examination (JEE).
The exams in Telangana are scheduled in September, however many think that they might get delayed due to the pandemic situation.
Several private universities like SRM Institute and Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) have cancelled the entrance examinations, keeping in mind that parents don't want their wards to appear for exams in this COVID-19 outbreak and risk their lives.

VIT University Vice-President, GV Selvam said, "The authorities received 10,000 applications in a day, after the announcement of cancellation of entrance examinations."
He further said that every year they receive over 2 lakh applications and this year this may significantly go up as a few students are cancelling their plans to go abroad. The University is also going to release the rank list in August, based on class 12 marks, JEE or SAT score.
One of the officials from a deemed University also said that the admissions this year has seen a rise, as many students are preferring local varsities. Universities like Lovely Professional University where most of the students from Telangana and AP take admission every year, has seen a 25% increase in the applications for admission.
Aman Mittal. Additional Director of LPU said, "This might be because of the way we handled things during the pandemic that students taking admission in local universities have increased."

On the other hand, parents cited the reasons that they don't want to wait till September or October to secure a seat.
One of the parents said, "I have sent my son's applications to almost all the private and deemed universities in Telangana, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, and have even received provisional admission from a couple of them. I want to enroll in Computer Science Engineering so that there is no pressure on him to appear for the entrance test."
