Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) has released its latest admission notification. The Graduate School (GS) 2027 registration is now open at tifr.res.in. The institute will hold a common entrance test to shortlist candidates. Selected students pursue research in fundamental sciences at TIFR.
The admission process has three main stages this year. First is the written entrance test held across India. Shortlisted candidates then face a personal interview at a TIFR campus. Final selection is based on combined performance in both rounds.
TIFR conducts admissions across five subject boards. These are Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Computer and Systems Sciences. Candidates must select one subject board while filling the application form. Each board has its own eligibility criteria and syllabus.

TIFR GS 2027 Application Fee
The application fee differs by gender category. Male applicants pay a non-refundable fee of Rs 1,000. Female, transgender, and other gender applicants pay Rs 500. Payment can be made online via net banking, cards, or UPI.
TIFR GS 2027 Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility varies by subject board and programme type. Candidates must meet the specific criteria for their chosen board.
- Mathematics: BSc, BE, BTech, MSc, or ME-MTech in Mathematics.
- Physics: BSc, BE, BTech, MSc, or ME-MTech in Physics.
- Chemistry: MSc or equivalent in Chemistry or related science.
- Biology: BSc, MSc, BE, BTech, MBBS, BDS, BPharma, or related degrees.
