The Tamil Nadu Health (TN Health) has published a notification for students planning to apply for the MBBS/BDS programmes under the 7.5% preferred quota for the academic year 2023–2024.

New Delhi: According to a notification issued by Tamil Nadu Health, candidates who are willing to apply for MBBS, BDS Course will be eligible for a total of 569 places, including 455 in medical schools and 114 in dentistry colleges, in compliance with the 7.5% preference quota.

The programme will offer up to 130 seats in the 20 self-financing medical institutions and 325 seats in the 37 Government Medical Colleges. Additionally, they will receive 101 seats at the 20 self-financing dental colleges and 13 seats in the two Government Dental Colleges.

554 seats were available the previous year. In the MBBS and BDS programmes, the State will provide 10,385 seats when 2022–2023 admissions are open. 10,135 seats were available the previous year. Officials from the medical education department said the prospectus would be ready in a few days. They are expecting the National Testing Agency's official NEET mark sheets, which will be used to create the State merit list.

The Department of Medical Education may choose online counselling, according to sources, given the limited time available for counselling. However, there will be in-person counselling for the special groups, such as the 7.5% preferential quota, veterans, athletes, and people with impairments.

Listing candidates' places on the national merit list is an additional suggestion that is being considered. The sources stated that this would "help the students know where they stand at the national level." This year, the administrators anticipate 40,000 applicants.

Veterinary sciences

Three thousand applicants paid for application forms for the Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University in less than two days since the application process started. The university offers 580 places in its seven colleges in Chennai, Namakkal, Tirunelveli, Orathanadu, Thalaivasal, Theni, and Udumalpet for its 5.5-year B.V.Sc. and A.H. course.

There are 20 seats available in B. Tech. Dairy Technology and up to 40 seats each in B. Tech. Food Technology and B. Tech. Poultry Technology. Vice-Chancellor K.N. Selvakumar stated, "We anticipate more students to apply closer to September 26,2023, the deadline for applications".

The cutoff score for B. V.Sc. will be determined using the scores in biology (100), physics, and chemistry (50 each). For B. Tech. programmes, the university will consider grades in biology, mathematics, physics, and chemistry. Each subject carries 50 points.

Candidates who apply under the non-resident Indian category will have a month to submit their completed applications, while everyone else must do so within 15 days of the application's release. There is a seat matrix for NRI applicants on the university’s official website.
