Universities to Consider Marks in Qualifying Exams for Admissions this year 

Due to the prevailing COVID-19 impact worldwide, the universities have commenced the admission process without holding the entrance tests this year. In this scenario, the universities are considering the marks secured in qualifying examinations for admissions

One such university is Gauhati University, which has decided to do away with the entrance tests and Registrar HK Nath said in this regard, "For most of the disciplines under Gauhati University and affiliated colleges, the applications are received online and entire admission will be carried online only. If situations don't normalize, then classes to commence from September 1 might be conducted online only."

The same was the viewpoint of Rajiv Gandhi University of Arunachal Pradesh, which has decided to start the academic session 2020-21 as per the government timeline through blended mode. RGU VC Saket Kushwaha said, "The new admissions to the first semester will take place from September as per the academic calendar issued in July, in the online mode based on the merit of percentage in one's qualifying certificate, as the possibility to conduct entrance tests is dim."

Tezpur University also already announced that there will be no admission tests this year. The University also notified that for B.Tech courses the admission will be held as per All-India Merit list.

TU Registrar Biren Das said that the last date to submit the marks is August 31, 2020. In case Undergraduate students are unable to get the marks by August, they can also provide CGPA of their fifth semester to get admission in PG courses.

University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) has ramped down the marks allotted to entrance tests and is considering 50% online entrance test score and 50% marks in the qualifying exam as the selection criteria for admission in MBA, Engineering and Pharmacy courses. But the admission in general degree courses is based on qualifying marks only.
