UP: State Govt. to Reopen Schools for Class 9-12 from October 19, 2020, Check Details Here

The government of Uttar Pradesh has given permission to reopen schools from October 19 for classes 9 to 12. The classes will be conducted on a shift basis with 50% of students in each class.

The state government also announced that classes will be held in shifts following all the precautionary measures and social distancing norms.

All the students willing to attend classes should have written consent letters from their parents. Only then, students will be allowed to attend the classes, Government added.

Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma informed that after proper consideration of government they have decided to open schools for classes 9 to 12 of all boards and students outside the containment zone could attend.

He also mentioned that classes will be held in shifts and the health of students will be given proper attention. Classes for 9 and 10 will be held on the morning shift and classes 11 and 12 will be held in the afternoon shift.

Further, Dinesh Sharma informed that only 50% of the students will be called in every class per day and the rest 50% of students will attend classes the next day. Seating arrangements will be made to place the students at a distance of 6 feet from each other. 

He further stated that it is mandatory for the schools should take proper sanitation and preventive measures for all the shifts and students with consent letters from parents only should be allowed inside the school.

The official statement also added that the additional chief secretary of Secondary Education, Aradhana Shukla has issued a standard operating procedure (SOP) to be followed for the reopening of schools.

Schools Reopening: SOP

The following section gives the standard Operating Procedure issued by the Chief Secretary.

•  Hand sanitizer, hand wash, and thermal scanning should be available in all the schools
•  Primary treatment facility to be available in all the schools to treat students.
• Students, teachers and other employees with symptoms of cold or fever should be sent home after primary treatment.
• Schools should not be made compulsory for all the students and no students should be forced to attend schools
• Priority should be given to students who don’t have access to online classes
• The transport facility provided for the students should be sanitized properly and seating arrangements should be made following social distancing norms
• All the students, teachers, and working employees should wear a mask and extra masks should be made available in schools
