Uttar Pradesh has announced that it will make the decision on July 2, 2020, whether to hold the university exams or not.

As per the earlier announcement, the final year/semester examination is scheduled to be conducted in the month of July.

However, the UP government has said that it will announce its revised decision on this matter whether it would postpone the exams or promote students as per their internal scores.

According to the Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma, the University Grants Commission would issue fresh guidelines on this matter by July 1, 2020, following which the UP government will announce their decision.

The state government previously appointed a four-member committee on the issue of conducting exams. The committee was against conducting exams and has submitted a report recommending the cancellation of pending exams.

If the exams are cancelled then the state government would have to promote around 48 lakh students.

Meanwhile, Lucknow Universityhas already announced that examinations will start from July 7, 2020.

However, various groups have been protesting against the decision owing to difficulties. After this, the Allahabad High Court asked Lucknow University administration to consider a plea that 23 students had filed.

Candidates requested the cancellation of the upcoming final year university exams, which were to take place during the COVID-19 lockdown. Students from the varsity wished for a mass promotion to the next class, which the court had considered.
