How good is the EPGP course at IIM, Bangalore?

SR
Snigdha Roy Posted On : July 29th, 2021
MBA from Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad

The EPGP programoffered by IIM Bangalore was developed for a different audience. It is for students who want to apply directly for leadership roles in the industry. Also, sponsored candidates can also prefer the program.

  • Well academically, it is also as demanding as PGP, with more detailed casework and discussions.
  • There are exams and quizzes each month and the placement is rigorous for mid-level roles in the industry.
  • The program leaves the studying to you so it's on you to build a takeaway for yourself. It is at par with 1-year full-time MBA programs in India, such as ISB, IIMA PGPX, and IIMC PGPEX.

This is a short brief on the EPGP program of IIM Bangalore. Hope it gives you some clarity about the program.

Which campus of CGC is better and why? Landran or Jhanjeri?

SP
Sujata Patranobish Posted On : July 26th, 2021
Mechanical Engineering from Chandigarh Engineering College (2019)

Both the campus has their own merits and demerits. Go through the following points to find out.

  • Hostels: Jhanjheri campus has hostel rooms more spacious and has better bedding accessories than Landran. Overall Jhanjheri hostels have better bathrooms, gym, common room, food, mess facilities than Landran.
  • Festivals: Festivals are better at Jhanjheri and many celebs come to the campus to perform.
  • Faculty: As Jhanjheri is the new campus, most of the good faculties go to Jhanjheri.
  • Placements: Placement companies come to Landran but that’s not an issue as it is a joint placement drive and Jhanjheri students participate in it as well.
  • Transportation: Jhajhri campus is 7km away from Landran, and you won’t get a bus to Chandigarh or any nearby cities for the campus. You have to take an auto from Jhanjheri to Landran or Kharar.
  • Small Campus: The Jhanjheri campus is smaller than Landran but it offers better facilities.
  • Less Crowded: Jhanjheri campus is less crowded. It can be a good thing or a bad thing based on how you perceive it.

These are the basic difference between the two campuses. Now, it’s up to you to choose which is better for you.

What are the 5 mistakes IES aspirant should avoid while starting their preparation?

AM
Ashish Mehra Posted On : February 23rd, 2021
Studied at Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi

The exam is very tricky, hence there are a lot of chances to make mistakes. Even a single mistake might knock you out of the competition. So, it is essential to keep some things in mind while preparing.

Improper Time Table:

  • Not making a proper study timetable is one of the most common blunders.
  • You need to make a clear preparation strategy for each subject and every topic after strongly analyzing the syllabus and its weightage.
  • If not done properly, you might end up spending more time on a vast subject that has less weightage.

If you are a student enrolled in a classroom program then you can follow the study plan suggested by the institutes. If self-study is your plan, then you can opt for postal programs from Made Easy or others.

Multiple Study material:

  • There is a common misconception, that more study material results in better preparation. However, the reality slightly differs.
  • It is advisable to go for the best books which will help you in the preparation and time management.
  • You can opt for study material by institutes such as Made easy. You’ll get books, workbooks, previous year's questions as a single package which will be enough for the exam preparation.

Skipping Revision:

Many students tend to move on to new topics without revising the completed ones. So, revise regularly and strengthen your concepts.

Neglecting previous year questions:

  • Many students fail to recognize the importance of solving previous year's questions.
  • The fact is that solving these questions helps you to become familiar with the exam’s pattern.

Improper test series strategy:

  • Every aspirant wishes to crack the exam in the first attempt.
  • Enroll yourself in test series from renowned institutes such as Made Easy as they help you analyze your performance and help you improve your shortcomings.

Make sure you give your 100% with a clear preparation strategy and you’ll achieve your goal.

Is college life in Sastra University good?

AM
Aniket Mishra Posted On : October 30th, 2021
B.Tech Information Technology, SASTRA University, Thanjavur

I have a few friends from Sastra University. According to them, college life at Sastra is good. It offers decent academic facilities. Here are some of the things that you need to know about the institute.

  • Dress-code for boys is shirts, jeans or formal trousers. For girls, it’s Kurti or salwar.
  • Hostel rules are more lenient for boys. They can stay out until 9 PM. Girls are only allowed to stay out till 6.
  • Try to make a few friends, if you want to have a good hostel life. If you are from different states, you may feel isolated at first. But try to communicate with others, that way you can find like-minded people.

Overall, you will have good experiences at Sastra University.

Which is a better college Hindu/Hansraj/Ramjas/Miranda House as a whole?

RP
Radha Patel Posted On : March 11th, 2026

Hindu vs Hansraj vs Ramjas vs Miranda House — the "top DU colleges" comparison. Let me give you a subject-specific breakdown instead of a generic ranking.

Miranda House (all-women, off North Campus):

  • NIRF Rank #1 college in India for 5+ consecutive years (2019-2024). Best for: Sciences, English, Sociology.
  • Strong alumni (politicians, academics, writers). Placement for pure liberal arts is contextual.
  • Admission via CUET: Extremely competitive. One of DU's highest cutoff colleges.

Hindu College (North Campus, coed):

  • Most "prestigious" overall DU brand in public perception. Best for: Commerce, Economics, History, Sciences.
  • NIRF Top 10 consistently. Alumni in corporate India, civil services, academia.
  • Best vibe for "typical DU college life" — strong cultural scene, Mecca (one of India's top college fests).

Hansraj College (North Campus, coed):

  • Strong in Sciences (Chemistry is famous). Good for PCM courses. Placement support better than many DU colleges.
  • Annual fest, good alumni in tech and sciences.

Ramjas College (North Campus, coed):

  • Strong in Humanities — Political Science, Hindi, English are flag courses. Known for intellectual/political discussion culture.

Overall winner? Depends entirely on your subject. Miranda/Hindu neck-and-neck for top prestige. Hansraj for sciences. Ramjas for humanities. All four are genuinely excellent DU colleges.

Which is a better college Hindu ,Hansraj, Ramjas ,Miranda House as a whole?

BJ
Barkha Jain Posted On : October 20th, 2021
Studied B.A History, Miranda House, University of Delhi (2020)

Among these four colleges, the college order for the best college would be - Hindu>Hansraj>Miranda>Ramjas

  1. Hindu is the best among them as it has the best placements and is a place for many other opportunities like extra-curricular activities. Only the colleges like St. Stephens, LSR, and SRCC can compete with a college like Hindu.
  2. Hansraj is good for NSS, clubs, and the CSE department as it has a friendly and helpful faculty. It is a 30-minute distance from the metro and is far from the metro station.
  3. Miranda is the same as Hansraj but the only difference is that it is co-ed and is near the metro. In academics, it's the same as the Hansraj.
  4. Ramjas doesn't have a good administration nor a good crowd. Students have created chaos on the campus by involving in fights. Although, one needs to do good research before getting to a conclusion for Ramjas.

Therefore, Miranda, Hindu, and Hansraj would be better options. However, a student should take admission to Miranda College as it is near to the station and has a good cut-off.

I can’t sleep less than 7 hours a day. How can I cope with my studies at IIM Ahmedabad?

YA
Yash Arora Posted On : December 21st, 2022
Marketing Manager at Market Simplified (2018–present)

If you aren't already a master of time management, there are two ways to get through the first year.

  • You teach yourself time management, your productivity increases significantly, and you'll have more time to sleep.
  • You disregard time management while forgetting what sleep entails. You spend the mornings keeping yourself awake in class, and the nights are spent getting ready for those classes and trying to finish up any unfinished work.

Many people end up taking the second option. Every day, they find it difficult to keep the numerous activities that they either are obligated to perform or take on voluntarily, and they quickly run out of time and patience. The more intelligent or unconcerned individuals significantly reduce their participation in voluntary activities. Thus, their days here are spent studying, sleeping, and occasionally relaxing with friends. You only need to be aware that you will either have to forgo your usual sleep or learn the skills and techniques.

How is the life of IPM IIM Indore students different from the life of students at IIT or NIT?

RB
Rahul Bisht Posted On : January 9th, 2023
Works at Students

Because there are only 120 students, students will not be able to interact with students from different cultures, as opposed to engineering colleges, where there are 1000-2000 bachelor students, giving them the opportunity to interact with students from different cultures and organize a large number of events, cultural fests, sports events, concerts, and so on, thus enjoying college life. In terms of sports, IIM Indore offers the most options among all IIMs. Because the batch size is small, all students have the opportunity to contribute significantly to the fests and gain hands-on experience.

Cultural diversity is outstanding. If you want, you can learn a lot of languages in 5 years. Such a curriculum is not available anywhere else.

Is there any use of nism certifications in getting a job?

SH
Sreeparna Hazra, Posted On : October 29th, 2021
B.Com from University of Delhi (2020)

The National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM certification) exams and educational programs serve different segments of intermediaries focusing on varied product lines and functional areas.

  • The skills, expertise, and ethics of professionals in the securities markets are necessary for providing effective intermediation to investors.
  • This also helps in increasing investor confidence in market systems and processes.
  • The School for Certification of Intermediaries (SCI) by NISM under SEBI ensures that market intermediaries meet defined minimum benchmarks of required functional knowledge.
  • This is managed through Certification Examinations and Continuing Professional Education Programs on Mutual Funds, Equities, etc.
  • The Nism program at Fincradle assists candidates with internships in derivatives and equity research.
  • They are supported by industry experts from companies like Boston Consulting Group, McKenzie, Crisil India, HSBC, etc.
  • Internships make you industry-ready.
  • The Certification changes quality market professionals and catalyzes greater investor participation in the markets.
  • It provides structured career paths for students and job aspirants in the securities markets.

You can secure a job in Financial Intermediaries, Banks, Secondary Market players, Advisory firms or can be self-employed. You need to be persistent and professional to see the future ahead in the Securities Market.
