Which is the best college among NIT (Trichy,Warangal,Suratkal) for any Maharashtrian or North Indian to live happily i.e without facing any dominance of vernacular dialect student?

GC
Gautam Chowdhury Posted On : July 19th, 2023
studied at National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, India

You won’t face any kind of dominance or bias studying at either college. The students are friendly and unless you provoke the other party, no one’s going to interfere in your business or harass you. It’s good to make friends belonging to diverse cultures rather than limiting yourself to certain cultural boundaries.  Usually, IITs and NITs have very friendly seniors and peers and there isn’t ragging in any form.

Remember you are not here just to score a high grade or win medals. Rather, you are here to change your life and yourself and only learning from others' experiences will help you go a long way. So don’t worry and go for either NIT Trichy or NIT Warangal and make the most out of the available resources. Be empathetic and always think from a broader perspective. Only then can you attain new heights.

Is someone with an MA in psychology from IGNOU, eligible for RCI registration?

PH
Pooja Hegde Posted On : May 4th, 2026

IGNOU MA Psychology and RCI registration — important distinction:

RCI (Rehabilitation Council of India) registers professionals working in rehabilitation services including clinical psychology and special education.

for RCI registration as a psychologist, you typically need:

  • a recognized degree in psychology (BA/MA) from a UGC-recognized university
  • specific rehabilitation/clinical training hours
  • RCI-approved program completion

IGNOU MA Psychology specifically: IGNOU's MA Psychology is a UGC-recognized degree. however, RCI registration requires the program to be an RCI-approved program — not just any psychology degree. IGNOU MA Psychology alone is generally NOT sufficient for RCI registration as a Rehabilitation Psychologist.

for RCI registration you'd typically need to also complete an additional RCI-approved diploma or meet specific clinical training requirements. check the RCI website (rehabcouncil.nic.in) for the latest eligibility criteria — these change periodically. also verify with IGNOU whether their specific psychology programs have RCI approval for any category.

How much do I need to score in the CAT/XAT to get into IIM, FMS, or XLRI with the following academics: X: 86%, XII: 73%, B.Tech: 6.89 CGPA?

MS
Muskaan Sharma Posted On : June 2nd, 2021
PGDM Human Resources, Xavier School of Management (2017)

The first and foremost thing is that you should be thorough with all your concepts and have decent academics. The selection process into XLRI does not focus much on the profile but your score should be decent.

The main thing that plays a vital role while preparing for these exams is quality over quantity. You should set your target of at least 95-96 percentile in XAT to get a call for the interview. The cut-offs for different fields are as follows.

Institute

VARC

DILR

QA

IIM

70%

70%

70%

FMS

XLRI

Group Discussion:

Be a part of group discussion in a positive way. Do not boast your knowledge and try to give chances to others as well. Only put forward the points required. This is the phase where panelists check your ability to react and discuss with others on some topic.

Interview:

After group discussion, you have an interview round where the group of panelists checks your general knowledge. You should be well versed with the three main questions, firstly your strengths and weaknesses, then next why you consider XLRI to be the best among other colleges, and the last why you want to pursue the particular course. During your interview never beat around the bush, if you do not know something, say so. This will create a better impact on the interviewers.

What exactly will I miss out on if I do my MBA from IIM Lucknow instead of IIM A/B/C?

AT
Akshana Tiwari Posted On : February 2nd, 2021
Studied at Indian Institute of Management Lucknow

There are several candidates who have this query of difference between IIM Lucknow and IIM A/B/C. Discussed below is what can be gained in IIM Lucknow, and what are the factors to be missed.

  • The IIM Lucknow campus is beautiful and has a calmness all around the surroundings.
  • The mess food is as good as any restaurant, and no way close to any hostel food. There are comments mentioning its quality, the unlimited supply. There are several facilities like a juice counter, paratha counter, egg counter, etc. There are facilities for night mess and that too in-room service.
  • Talking about sports facilities, the count is huge. Football field, futsal field, squash field, cricket ground, volleyball/throwball courts, basketball court, tennis court, Gym, swimming pool, indoor games including table tennis, pool and snooker, and even sauna are there inside the campus.
  • There are a number of ways inside the campus for the all-round development of students. There are several student-run cultural clubs (Dance/ Choreography, Singing/ Music, Drama, Photography, Spicmacay, etc.). There are committees managed by students for academic development in Finance, Consulting and Strategy, Marketing, Operations, etc. There is a committee for Media management too. There is also a committee that works towards the betterment of society through its activities.
  • There is a gender diversity of 30-50% girls as well as 70-80% engineers in IIM Lucknow, which is opposed to other IIMs having 90+ % engineers.
  • IIM Lucknow provides immense opportunities for business ideas and E-cell helps students in converting those ideas to life. There are several student-made ventures already running inside the campus.

Other than the above points, the placement of IIM Lucknow is as good as top IIM A/B/C, having the same companies recruiting from all the top IIMs. Overall, these factors can help build perspectives for choosing the right institute for CAT rankers and especially, IIM aspirants.

Why is the Engineering Design Dept. in IIT Madras considered "different" from other departments?

TB
Tushar Banerjee Posted On : March 28th, 2023
studied at Indian Institute of Technology, Madras

The engineering design department at IIT Madras is considered different from the other departments and rightfully so. Some features that make this department different from others are

  • This branch has no bachelor's degree and just offers a dual degree program not subject to branch change, unlike other branches.
  • This department has very few common courses like physics and thermodynamics. There are also no interdisciplinary courses, no pH lab and the Math is also different from other departments.
  • The second year has no option for HS or math electives
  • There is a compulsory linear algebra course, which is an elective for the CS fourth year and is a major drawback for ED students.
  • Very limited electives are offered in consecutive years and a large number of basic mandatory courses for design are offered.

All these points portray the rigor and dynamism of the curriculum. While many may not agree, this course has its own perks also which are sometimes overlooked because of the rigor of the course

  • Graphics Arts: These courses include sketching, shading, painting, clay modeling, and plaster molding and are fun to learn.
  • Product Design labs: These labs impart real-life knowledge of product design, architecture, development, etc.
  • Versatile electives: The program offers a wide variety of subjects to choose from that include almost everything like; strength of materials, FEM, fluid mechanics, thermo, Microprocessors and controllers, control systems, etc.
  • Internship: The entire 4th year is spent in an industrial internship, and thus students don't have to get any credited internships during summers.

There are two sides to every coin, and so does this department. There certainly are many shortcomings but on the flip side, the perks it offers are often more than enough to attract the best talents.

If I am considering either a CSE at BITS Pilani, chemical engineering in any IIT, or ECE or CSE at NIT Trichy, which one should I choose?

SK
Sneha Kanojia Posted On : September 4th, 2021
Studied at Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani

You should give preference to courses rather than the college. It is necessary to know about them beforehand. I can provide you a brief idea about each of the courses so that your choice becomes a little easier.

  1. Chemical Engineering involves chemistry, physics, mathematics, and even economics. You can also check the course curriculum of the courses at some institutes such as IIT Bombay.
  2. ECE is not just about circuits, semiconductor electronics, and Integrated Circuits. It involves a lot of mathematics such as calculus, functions, probabilities, and complex numbers. It also involves coding. If you are not very familiar with coding, you can do some free courses from Coursera, edX, MIT OCW, etc. before starting the course.
  3. CSE will involve lots of coding. Also, the placements in any college generally tend to be better than in other branches. So you may consider CSE for that as well.

If you want to do CSE or ECE, then BITS Pilani would be an excellent choice. For Chemical Engineering, IIT Bombay is a very good choice.

NITs generally are very good in core branches and for CSE and ECE they may not be a very good choice as the faculty is not good.

How is NMIMS Mumbai for its management programmes, in comparison to the old and new IIMs and some other good colleges?

SK
Shaunak Kapoor Posted On : February 23rd, 2023
PGDM from SVKM'S NMIMS?, Hyderabad Campus

Comparing NMIMS to the old IIMs like A, B, C, K, I, and L is completely illogical so let’s not do that. NMIMS Mumbai Campus is still comparable to the new IIMs in certain aspects. It is slightly better than new IIMs. Some points that favor this statement are

  • The infrastructure and in-campus facilities are a notch above the new IIMs
  • The peers are passionate learners ready to face life challenges that occur as a result of staying in Mumbai.
  • Another unique aspect of the college is its induction programs and tours that no other college offers. This helps develop students' confidence and provides maximum exposure to them.
  • There is a certain level of harmony between the seniors and juniors
  • The grading system is strict and one cannot miss a class more than the limitations of the course.
  • classroom learning is an exciting experience that involves activities and other interesting learning methods.
  • The total marks are a mix of every aspect like trimester exams, attendance, and class participation.
  • Various clubs and committees host cultural and social events. They also hold business events which are very beneficial for students aspiring to become managers
  • When it comes to placements, the average package in NMIMS is higher than that of new IIMs. Also, Mumbai Campus has 100 percent placement opportunities.

Therefore the excellent bridging of theoretical knowledge and practical approach makes it one of the most coveted B Schools in India.

When my term-end examination will take place as I enrolled in MEG 1 IGNOU in the month of July?

SM
Sourabh Mohanty Posted On : October 21st, 2022
M.A ECO from Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU)

Every year, IGNOU holds its TEE (Term End Examinations) in June and December.

The practical and theoretical parts of the same course must be mentioned separately in the exam form, and the fees are also separate for both. The exam fee for both theory and practical courses/papers is currently 60/- rupees.

Typically, a grace period of 10-20 days is also allowed for the submission of examination forms, with a Late Fee of around 1000/- rupees as of now. The exact end date of the grace period as well as the late fee amount are communicated separately.

If the previous examination's results have not been declared, you should include those courses in the exam form. You may also be exempt from paying the exam fee for such courses. At the time of exam form submission, confirm this with the respective study center. Please keep in mind that the assignment portion of the respective courses must be completed before submitting the exam, or your hall ticket for the examination may be withheld. You are considered an Eligible Candidate once you register for a course and complete the semester/year allotted to that course.

Once you are eligible, you can take the exam in any subsequent TEE (June or December). You can still appear in both TEEs if your course is year-based rather than semester-based. This is a major source of confusion for students enrolled in annual programs.

You may reappear for a paper as many times as necessary to pass it (mind the maximum program duration, however). If the previous examination result was not declared or if you did not receive at least 40% pass marks, you should reappear.

You cannot reappear for that course TEE once you have received the minimum required marks (typically 40%). You must complete ALL courses within the maximum time frame for the Program.

Is MRCET a better college than MREC?

MS
Mridul Sharma Posted On : May 27th, 2021
B.Tech Electronics and Communication Engineering, Malla Reddy College of Engineering and Technology

One of my sisters studied in MRCET. According to her, MRCET is much better than MREC, which is the first campus belonging to the Malla Reddy group. Even though it was built first, MRCET still shines through because of its faculty, infrastructure, and curriculum. It is now an autonomous college as well.

Here is what all you would like to know further-

  • In terms of infrastructure, there are separate blocks for each batch and department.
  • The faculty at MRCET is dedicated to delivering lectures. They make sure that you understood the topics discussed.
  • Resources are shared at the end of each class and external links are given too in order to improve your knowledge.
  • The college has excellent facilities for sports like cricket, football, basketball, and table tennis.
  • MRCET has 100% placement support. The placement cell makes sure that the companies recruit most students in the final years.
