Is ECE good at IIIT Allahabad?
There are a lot of things that come into consideration while choosing a course. One of my friends opted for ECE at IIIT Allahabad, let me share his experience, with which you might get a proper understanding.
- If your AIR is around 7k-10k then, it is really good. Because at this rank you don’t consider yourself for branches like CS/ECE/IT in top NIT’s.
- When you look at the insights of IIIT-A, you find it is underrated.
- Although the college is younger than most of the top NIT’s, some professors are really outstanding.
- The labs here are better as compared to the NITs.
- Projects are assigned to students which carry the weightage of 5 credits. The projects start right from the fifth semester.
- The VLSI lab has various machines and instruments which help students to work on VLSI projects.
Choosing the best college for you depends on the various parameters like your interest, location, professors, infrastructure, laboratories, culture, academic records, alumni network, and placement. Thus, choose wisely.
Is VNIT, Nagpur good for an MTech?
When opting for an M.Tech, one wishes to acquire more knowledge than our B.Tech counterparts. Apart from that, one thinks about placements, and the amount of time and effort required for teaching assistantship.
Except for a few specializations in Civil, ECE and CSE, VNIT fails to impart adequate knowledge, good placements and proper Phd. preparation for M.Tech students. As a result, most of us are forced to work in academia on a contract basis.
Moreover, VNIT is located in the outskirts. For making purchases, one has to go to the downtown area of Sitabuldi. This is highly inconvenient for hostelites. The mess food is of poor quality, and campus gates are shut post 10 pm.
The monthly stipend is very less when compared to the hostel and academic fee. Especially for the first two semesters, one has to depend on our parents for fee payment. On top of this, the hostel fee increases by 10% every year.
Some M.Tech specializations are good at VNIT. But in that case too, other factors go against this college. Thus, I won’t recommend VNIT Nagpur for an M.Tech.
Is it worth choosing IIM Ranchi, Trichy for MBA in terms of placement and future scope?
Yes, you can easily choose IIM Ranchi or Trichy based on their placement statistics because the placement scenarios at both IIMs seem promising despite the lack of infrastructure and campus facilities. In many cases, Trichy and Ranchi have exchanged leads outside the ABC and LIK worlds. All can be overcome if you are taught by the best professors.
Elaborating further, IIM Trichy seems better than Ranchi or Rohtak to me. The reason being the superior teaching methods and its favorable location both for students as well as recruiters. Apart from Trichy, other IIMs are also doing fairly well compared to non-CAT MBA institutes. These are doing well with the help of sponsor IIMs which arrange faculty and placements. These in turn select their own Directors and invest in the infrastructure required in another 3–4 years as Trichy and Ranch have already done.
Is attending IIM Kozhikode a good decision?
Whether attending IIM Kozhikode is a good decision or not, you can know only after knowing the pros and cons of the same.
Pros

Campus: IIM Kozhikode is well known for its resort-like campus surrounded by lush green scenery. The natural ambiance helps students get a breath of fresh air amidst back to back classes.

Faculty: The faculty at IIM Kozhikode is not as responsible as the older IIMs. This means you are responsible for your own education. They do provide excellent classes but they treat you more like adults and you have to be your own motivator.

Hostels: The hostels are the best in the country. The safety here is top notch. The public and hostel toilets are very clean.

Academics: The academic rigour is as good as that at the other older IIMs. IIM Kozhikode offers a number of interesting courses in the second year like Strategy of Poker.

Placements: All the usual recruiters that you find at other older IIMs visit IIM Kozhikode. In addition, there are a lot of opportunities to work in the Middle East.

Student activities:There are a large number of student activities on the campus of IIM Kozhikode. There are clubs for Dramatics, Photography, Astronomy, Fine Arts, Quizzing, and a host of other extra curricular activities.
Cons

Slow decision making:IIMK has not had a Director for more than 2 years. So, a lot of decision making has become slow.

Increasing batch size: The increasing batch size might affect key resources like canteen facilities, water, and internet bandwidth.

Limited sports facilities:The IIM Kozhikode campus has limited sports facilities. The students have to go to the nearby NIT to play Badminton and Tennis.

Food:If you are a vegetarian, there would be limited options for having a meal outside the campus.
The pros weigh out the cons and it’s actually a good decision to join IIM Kozhikode.
What is a better option to take, IIT Bombay for mechanical or BITS Pilani for CSE?
I am a second-year BTech student at IIT Bombay. My suggestion would be that you go for Mechanical at IIT Bombay. IIT Bombay is placed #3 in the Engineering category by NIRF 2023, and #118 by QS World Rankings 2025. IIT Bombay is currently among the top 3 IITs, and one of the fastest-growing engineering institutes in India.

In 2023, 104 students were placed from B.E. CSE at BITS Pilani, and the CTC Range was INR 11-38 LPA.
IIT Bombay is a much more affordable institution than BITS Pilani, and it has equally good placements. This makes it stand much higher in terms of ROI. Moreover, the IIT Bombay tag holds a lot of repute both nationally and globally.
Because of these reasons, I would suggest you choose IIT Bombay Mechanical over BITS Pilani CSE.
How difficult is it to convert a call from TAPMI for someone who is a fresher and from a non engineering background (BSc. degree)?
For someone who is a fresher and also from a non engineering background, it might be a difficult task to convert a call from TAPMI but it is not impossible. He/she will have to compete with people with experience or a technical background. He/she should be expecting more questions on academic record, personal skills, and strengths.
Below are some general suggestions;
- Be truthful, confident and more participative.

My 12th percentage is 82, 10th is 72 and I graduated with around a 6.9 CGPA. What are the chances that if I prepare for the CAT that I would get IIMs, FMS, XLRI, etc.?
With your academic score, your best bet is the new IIMs and may be IIM Calcutta. You may get IIM Calcutta, only if you manage to score 99.7 percentile or above in CAT. Different IIM has different selection criteria. The criteria often vary as well, depending on various factors.
FMS, XLRI, don’t focus much on past academics while shortlisting students. For selection, your WAT and GD-PI performance will matter more.
Other than IIMs, there are also good management institutes such as SIBM, SCMHRD. These institutes are well-reputed in their own niche. You can keep these institutes as alternatives.
Which branch should I choose: B.Tech (Electrical Engineering) in IIT Roorkee or Dual Degree (Electrical Engineering) in IIT Kharaghpur?
According to me, B.Tech (Electrical engineering) from IIT Roorkee is a better option due to the following reasons:
- B.Tech electrical engineering is a 4 year program while dual degree (electrical engineering) is a five year program. This means that choosing IIT Roorkee will help you enter the workforce earlier.
- The B.Tech curriculum focuses equally on theoretical and practical learning. This will prepare you for industry roles.
On the other hand, the dual degree curriculum gives more importance to research and specialisation in electrical engineering.

Unfortunately, the branch-wise placements are not available for either of these IITs.
I would recommend you choose B.Tech Electrical at IIT Roorkee over Dual Degree in Electrical at IIT KGP due to the above reasons.
What is good about iet Lucknow?
One of my friends studied at IET Lucknow. Here’s what I gathered about the college from him and a bit of research on the internet.
- A majority of the students from the colleges affiliated with the UPTU end up doing higher studies such as M.Tech or MBA.
- They may also need centers for coaching classes and there are plenty of them around IET Lucknow.
- In addition to that, a number of companies visit IET Lucknow during the placement session.
- It is the best option after HBTI Kanpur if you are looking forward to getting employed right after graduation.
- One of the best things about IET Lucknow is the high speed internet available for the students.
- As it is an institute under the government, the fees are less compared to other institutes.
- The location of the institute also works in its favor.
- Modes of conveyance are easily available.
Owing to the fact that it is one of the top colleges that is affiliated with UPTU, it succeeds in attracting more and more applicants. The institute is good for applicants who want to pursue CS.
Apart from these, the institute provides a good environment for study for students who wish to appear for their GATE and CAT exams. Students from IET often top both exams. The network of alumni of IET Lucknow is well renowned.
What is the hostel fee in Lucknow University?
The hostel fees of Lucknow University completely depends upon the course. It varies depending on whether your course is regular or self-financed.
As you have not mentioned your course hence, I would tell you that for the regular course the fees of Hostel accommodation fees are around INR 60000 per annum.
Recently, the price has been raised and now it is INR 6750 for the hostel. Also, you will have to submit a security fee which will be returned to you later.
