How are the placements for an IT at NIT Raipur??
During NIT Raipur placements in 2022, there were 91 eligible students and 85 offers received during the placement season. This is indicative of the good placements at NIT Raipur, where most sincere students during their academic years are able to get jobs with decent packages.
The average salary package offered during the placements is around 17 LPA, with the lowest salary package being 6 LPA. This indicates that even the lowest salary package offered is still decently high. One of my friends is studying at IIIT Kalyani, and he once tells me that this institute is nothing more than sarcasm. College administration and technical staff are just ridiculous, and there is nothing to say about them.
He also says that this institute does not even have a full-time registrar; rather, faculties are guest faculties from the local colleges.
However, this institute has planned to start PhD programs in recent days. Still, the reality is that the college administration is poor enough to handle the present student population that is approximately 350 students, very smoothly. It can be mentioned that the placement cell of this institute is completely unaware of its roles and responsibilities. They are an example of an ill-lethargic, lazy and greedy people group.
Thus, it can be concluded that this institute is visionless.
Which college should I choose between Sri Venkateswara or Ramjas for a B.Com programme?
Among Sri Venkateswara and Ramjas, the former is the better option for a B.Com program.
The administration at Venky is quite good. It has many active societies. Everything at the institute is online. You can easily get your admit cards or pay your fees. It also offers better academics and faculties.
How is Mithibai College for Psychology?
Mithibai College is great for the arts stream, especially when it comes to psychology.
- The teachers here are well qualified with years of educational experience.
- They are a bit more strict than other colleges, but this ultimately maintains discipline in your life.
- It is also not very easy to get into Mithibai College.

What is the meaning of back semester, back log etc. at SVNIT? What are its consequences?
these sound similar but mean different things:
Backlog = one failed subject you carry while still moving to the next semester with your batch. you clear it next time that exam is held. common and manageable if caught early.
Back semester = you've failed too many subjects in one semester (usually 3–4+), so SVNIT makes you repeat the whole semester. this is a bigger deal — you lose a full semester and graduate late.
why this matters for you:
- most companies during campus placements have a strict no active backlog policy. even 1 pending backlog at placement time can get you disqualified from sitting. cleared backlogs (on your transcript) are different — many companies allow up to 2-3 lifetime cleared backlogs
- back semester = delayed graduation = you miss your batch's placement season entirely for that year
- clear any backlog as soon as the next attempt is available. don't let them pile up — SVNIT subjects get harder and one subject becomes two very quickly when coursework stacks up
if you've got a back semester situation, speak to your faculty advisor ASAP about the exact re-exam schedule and what subjects can be cleared in which slot.
Which is better, an IIT KGP CSE dual degree or an IIT Roorkee CSE B.Tech?
Without any second thoughts, choose IIT Roorkee CSE B. Tech over IIT KGP CSE dual degree because dual degrees are usually less preferred by companies coming for placements.
It’s better to do MTech after BTech than to opt for a dual degree. The main reason is that in Masters you are open to changing your branch in case your interest goes to another field. But a dual degree means you will be studying the same field with no option of changing in between.
Another major disadvantage of a dual degree is that you are not eligible to change your branch to a 4-year program irrespective of your CGPA
You will see your batchmates leaving a year before you and getting offers and settling well before you.
IIT KGP no doubt is older and better than IIT Roorkee in every aspect. But as far as the program is concerned, a dual degree is not worth spending so many years at all.

- Don’t mug up the concepts, rather try to understand them thoroughly. This will help you in the long run.
- Actively participated in the ongoing campus activities and make sure you are well-involved in extracurricular activities
- Join a club or team only if you are genuinely interested in it and not for the sake of getting a certificate.
- Identify your interests and passions and start working on them.
- Attend the minimum number of classes so that you don’t get detailed due to poor attendance.
- Establish a good bond with your professors as well as seniors.

What are/were some of the instances of ragging at MNNIT, Allahabad?
One of my relatives was a student of MNNIT Allahabad and had experienced and eye-witnessed ragging in the university. According to him, the culture of ragging was restrained at MNNIT Allahabad after 2002.
- The common place to rag and trouble freshers was the hostel area, which was outside the campus. All the freshers were asked to walk in queues. For boys, the dress code was a white shirt with a red third button, white pants, black shoes. For girls, it was white salwar and kameez, black shoes, oiled hair with the compulsion of ribbon. They were supposed to wear this uniform for two-three months. Furthermore, the seniors had asked the freshers to always look at their third button (the red one) whenever they were nearby them.
- Room visits by seniors used to be a norm. While few seniors used to ask only questions and share their practical experience with juniors, many also used to ask the juniors to salute them at a 90-degree angle, or Paper dance, etc. Some seniors also used to make juniors do their practicals/assignments.
- There used to be a railway track inside the campus and juniors were often asked to run on the track late at night, in earlier days.
The situation started to change after 2000/2001 when a student allegedly died from his injuries due to ragging. The University administration started taking complaints seriously and worked their best to maintain peace at the university.
