What is the course: electronics and computer science engineering at KIIT?
As a reflection of the sheep mentality, the majority of engineering aspirants can be seen running after CS or IT. However, I will suggest you also give preference to your interests first.
Electronics and Computer Science Engineering is a recently launched branch at KIIT and is actually great. Not many batches have passed out yet, but the branch seems promising like any other branch at KIIT.
- In the first year, the same foundation courses are taught that are common in all the branches. These include Physics, Chemistry, Basic Electronics, Engineering Mechanics, etc.
- From the second year, you will be intrigued by the ECE concepts. Out of the overall curriculum, approximately 55% weightage is given to electronics subjects and 45% weightage is given to CS subjects.
- From what I have heard, the subjects taught to ECE are easier than the subjects taught to CS and Electronics students individually.
In all, Electronics and Computer Science Engineering is a decent choice especially if you are interested in the field. However, if you are still aiming for CS, then you can opt for a branch change after one year. The cut-off for branch change is 8.5 CGPA but to get into CS you will need around 9.2+ and 8.9 or more for IT.
How is DTU for outside Delhi students, and is there any north-south feeling at a prestigious university like DTU or NSUT? I hope there won't be any such feeling.
DTU is a great college not only for Delhiites but students of North India as a whole. DTU has a diverse student crowd and welcomes students from all states, NRI students, and students from all over Asia and Africa. It’s hard to get any North-South feeling here especially when there is such great harmony between juniors and seniors. The professors also try their best to give individual attention to each student and are quite approachable. There is no such language barrier also as most professors are bilingual and try to deliver lectures in both Hindi and English.
DTU is a place where you will make friends irrespective of their cultural backgrounds. It’s the common interest and passions that bring the huge crown together.
If anything, I feel Outside Delhi students have the advantage of becoming a hosteller which in itself is a unique experience. They will be missing out on all the fun such as visiting the sports complex late at night, roaming around the campus late at night, and fully participating in organizing the fest.

What is the exact counselling procedure for the B.Tech admissions in BITS Pilani?
The whole counseling process completes with a total of 5 rounds of seat allocation for its various courses at various campuses. The whole process is given below, in brief.
- First you have to fill out the campus preference form online.
- After the first round of seat allocation, the selected candidates have to pay a part of the fee for seat locking without which you would not be considered for further rounds.
- Then the second and the third round of seat allocation takes place after roughly every 10 days.
- After the third round is over, you need to report to your allotted campus within 7-8 days. You would have to get your hostel allocation and all other hostel amenities as well after you visit the campus.
- In the final admission, document verification takes place and you will need to pay the full 1st-semester fee minus the seat locking fee paid earlier. On this day also you need to “freeze” your campus. If you freeze your campus, then you are eligible to get the higher preference branch only in your campus where you have taken the admission. If you do not freeze your campus you are still eligible for the other campus programs as well.
Finally, the 4th and the 5th rounds of seat allocation happens usually in the first two weeks of August and the process is completed.
How is Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology? How are the campus and the placements?
My brother graduated in B.Tech (CS) from Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology. I have heard about the advantages and disadvantages of enrolling in SLIET.
Campus:-
- The campus is moderately large with 448 acres.
- Fully furnished labs, well-maintained furniture, and a huge library with a good collection of books and journals, and research papers.
- It has 13 clean hostels with a very good connection of high-speed LAN. It has sports facilities, medical services, a temple, a Gurudwara, ATM, banks, a shopping complex, and student activity centers.
- One huge stadium to play multiple sports such as cricket, football, etc, a swimming pool, one beautiful lake, and two ponds, a hygienic canteen, and a restaurant with multiple eating joints.
Placements:-
If you spend your four years in this university, it wouldn’t be a waste of your money. Earlier, the placement of this college wasn’t good enough but last year a total of 41 companies visited the university and 195 students got placed in the best companies. Due to COVID, the placement is still in progress.
The top recruiters who came to the university in 2020 were Cognizant, Hindustan Unilever Limited, Nestle India, Capgemini, Softstar, Nature Bio Food, TCS, Ralson, Godrej, and many more.
Thus, the University keeps academics on priority and fun at the same time.
Can someone share his/her interview experience at SPJIMR on score-based calls?
If you are preparing for an interview at SPJIMR, here is what you can expect based on a student's experience.
First, you need to choose your specialization beforehand while filling out the application form. Once you receive a profile-based call, you will be shortlisted and interviewed on the basis of your chosen specialization.
On the day of the interview, make sure to reach the venue 90 minutes prior to the scheduled interview time. The admissions committee member will verify all the documents which were uploaded to the portal and will ask you to submit a photocopy of the same.
You will then be taken to another classroom for the psychometric test and WAT. The psychometric test will revolve around questions testing your morals and ethics, and you will have to choose among Strongly agree, Agree, Neutral, Disagree, and Strongly Disagree. You will also have to elaborate on the same by choosing any 3 among the 10 questions from each group. The WAT will ask you to write on a given topic within a time limit of 30 minutes.
After the written test, you will be taken for the group interview. Groups of 6 will be taken to their respective panels. You will be asked to introduce yourself, and the panelists will question you based on your specialization. Be prepared to answer questions related to your work profile and operations. You will also be asked to speak on a topic related to your specialization.
If you qualify for Group Interview 2, you will be asked questions that test your personality and character. You will also be asked to talk about a "Wow" moment in your life and something deep you have learned from your parents.
Remember, the interview process is an elimination round, so make sure to prepare well and be confident in your answers.

Placements at KIIT have always been great and like every year, this year too it witnessed placement offers by some of the best companies.
Around 400 prestigious companies offered 5000+ job offers for a batch size of 3500 eligible B.Tech students of 2022 batch KIIT. It seems the institute is again set to achieve 100% placements. Here are a few highlights from KIIT Placements 2022

While ‘Day-One’ campus recruitment drive witnessed 2000 job offers from four companies namely, Accenture, Cognizant, Capgemini, and Wipro. Additionally, many companies visited the KIIT campus more than one time like Accenture, Ericsson, Escorts, Infosys, Cognizant, Wipro, Capgemini, etc.
From placement point of view, which NIT is better among NIT Trichy, NIT warangal and NIT Karnataka Surathkal in M.Tech Course of Communication specialization?
This answer might be a little irrelevant, but I feel it will answer your queries. As some of my friends studied Advanced Communication Systems (ACS) at NIT Warangal, I can say that seeing your interest in Communication you must be from an ECE background. There are two more streams in NIT Warangal for ECE graduates, VLSI and Electronics Instrumentation (EI). VLSI should be your first choice. If you don’t get VLSI, opt for EI.
Let me share the reasons as to why I think so.
- EI is not core for ECE graduates.
- But if you want to get jobs in core ECE, VLSI or EI are better choices than ACS.
- However, ACS placements are improving.
- All the packages are above INR 15 LPA.
- Students are getting internships in Intel, Dell, Analog Devices, Synaptics, Xilinx, Synopsys, etc.
- Students get placed in C-Dot, Intel, Sandisk, Qualcomm, Xilinx, nVidia, Synopsys, etc.
- The subject ACS has no scope in the market.
- So, companies that come will want you to know VHDL and Verilog.
- These subjects are taught in both VLSI and EI, not in ACS.
So, even after getting poor grades, you have to study other subjects for placements, if you are in ACS. To conclude, if you want to join NIT Warangal, go with VLSI or EI.
If an MBBS graduate is having an option of choosing between AIIMS NIMHANS MCh neurosurgery 6yr course then which institute is the best to opt to? What is the advantage of one over the other?
This is a choice that can vary from individual to individual. It is each student’s unique preference of certain things like location, curriculum, alumni, crowd, etc. that influence their choices.
One of my friends cleared both the entrance exams at the same time but opted for AIIMS over NIMHANS, due to its location. Being a North Indian he felt it would be easier to blend in rather than getting accustomed to a new culture, food or place.
Also, he mentioned that the Neurosurgery course will only provide an McH degree and no MS degree. This was also another concern for him and why he in the end went for AIIMS.
Therefore, you should think clearly and point out all the pros and cons of these institutions. Check which one is satisfying all your requirements and then go for it. Both AIIMS and NIMHANS are reputed institutions, graduating from any of them will prove to be great for your career. If you are North Indian go for AIIMS, if South Indian opt for NIMHANS.
