What is the XAT score cut-off for MICA Ahmedabad?

Hard work and smart study is the way to go. I didn’t specifically prepare for JIPMER, AIIMS or PGI. Prepare subject-wise to ace an exam. Do not focus on a particular exam as then you’ll be stuck in solving repeats. Do solve repeats, but do that subject-wise, after completing that particular topic/subject.
Most students who crack these entrances are average students with a good preparation strategy. Analyze your weak subjects. With a basic foundation from your MBBS, four months of intense preparation is enough. Do join test series like Dams and ADR Plexus.
During my preparation days, I started my studies by solving MCQs on topics which I had covered the previous day. This was followed by 6-12 hours of study. Allot 60% of your day for strengthening your subjects, and 40% for solving MCQs. If possible, attend Dr. Thameem’s classes. Pathology is a scoring subject that also covers a lot of other subjects. For Patho, attend Devesh Mishra's classes.
I would recommend first knowing your strengths and weaknesses. Polish your strengths further, and improve on your weak areas.
How is IT engineering at NIT Surathkal?
As a student of IT engineering at NIT Surathkal, I am listing down certain facts about my department and my college-
- Faculty- The faculty members of the IT Department are experienced and well-learned. The teachers of NITK are all Phd. holders.
- Academics- NITK prioritizes its academics above everything else. From second year onwards, you’ll have to choose your minor, regardless of your discipline. From the third year, there is a provision for Honors to help you understand your field in depth. It is helpful for those planning for an MS from top US colleges.
The college follows a relative grading system.
- Infrastructure- The infrastructure of NITK is top notch. The lT labs are well equipped and well maintained. The entire 300 acre campus has access to free Wifi.
- Library- The IT department has its own library, alongside the college’s central library. The central library contains 1.2 Lakh+ books with full air conditioned rooms.
- Campus Life and Peers- The campus life is great. The 300 acre campus is lush green with a beach of its own. As NITK is the third most preferred college of top rankers in JEE Mains, the college crowd is made of brilliant people.
- Coding Culture- The college has a good coding culture. Its students make it to GSoC in good numbers every year. It ranks quite high globally in terms of the number of NITK students who qualify GSoC each year.
- Placements- The placements are top-notch for IT students. NIT Surathkal is located pretty close to Bangalore, which is the IT hub of our country. Because of its suitable location, IT students get placement offers from top brands. During 2022, the highest package for the IT department touched INR 45 LPA.
Thus, NIT Surathkal is a good choice to pursue your IT engineering.
What was your experience as a project associate at IIT Madras?
Before I tell you about my brother's experience as a project associate, let me shed some light on who exactly a project associate is and how is he/she selected.
The projects at IITs are funded by external bodies and are usually assigned to a Principal Investigator (PI), who has contributed majorly to the commencement of the collaborated project. This PI is usually a professor of IIT who selects students that he deems suitable to work on that project. Those who are already IITians are given the title of Project Associate. To get selected, one must check the official website for faculty and their research work. Contact the professor whose research work aligns with your interests and give a short interview before the final selection.
As a project associate, my brother was given flexibility in working hours and continuous assistance from the professors. The labs had great computational and experimental resources and made the experience easier than expected. His team had to send annual or binaural reports to the company funding his project as a part of the update. Accommodation and food would be provided by the institute itself with the permission of your professor else you will have to make arrangements outside.
It's important to note that this experience may vary from lab to lab and also your faculty advisor.
Is there any reason why one should not join IIM Bangalore?
Honestly, there is no major reason one should let go of such a golden opportunity if joining IIM Bangalore. Yet I have stated some reasons which might lead to this decision:
- You have got a call from IIM Ahmedabad as well and you prefer it over IIM Bangalore.
- If you are tight on budget and cannot afford the high fees here.
- If you are not confident that you will be able to bear the peer pressure and the level of competition at IIM Bangalore.
- If you are not interested in pursuing an MBA.
All these reasons validate your decision not to join IIM Bangalore.
What should I do if RGPV is not sending my degree certificate?
Getting your RGPV degree certificate is as difficult as getting any certificate from a Government Office without Corruption.
There are two ways you can try to get your degree:

Apply online using RGPV portal: For this method, you need to first login using your enrolment number and password. This has to be the same you have been using for 4 years. Select the ‘Apply for Degree’ option. Pay INR 250 ( you will have to pay extra if your annual subscription has expired). Now you will have to wait for almost a year after which your degree will be finally delivered to your doorstep.

The next and more quick way is to personally visit the RGPV campus. Go to the central building and ask for information regarding the degree. After a few formalities and hours of patience, you will finally get your degree.
If you want RGPV degree urgently, you will have to visit the campus. But if you are in no rush then consider it delivered after a year.
Is Techno India University better than IITs?
IIT is a brand that is more than 60-70 years old and the reputation of IITs for engineering is unmatched. So, it might not be fair to compare IITs with Techno India University as TIU was established in 2002. The expertise, global exposure and hands-on technical training in IITs are unparalleled. If a student gets an opportunity to study in an IIT, be it anywhere, the IIT tag itself is sufficient to get you noticed by the industry professionals.
Techno India University may not be as popular as the IITs, but it is a reputed institution under WBUT. Techno India University is notable for its engineering department. Their school of engineering prepares students with theoretical and practical knowledge about the subject and provides industrial training to enhance the skills of the students. Students involve themselves in workshops, seminars, and interdisciplinary research.
Techno India University takes admission for B.Tech courses through WBJEE, JEE Mains, Techno Joint Entrance Examination whereas IITs take admission through JEE Advanced. As a result, there is a huge difference in the student crowd at these institutes.
Students from Techno India University may get job opportunities similar to an IIT graduate but unlike the former, the latter has a higher percentage of getting a larger salary package offered to them. Not only in engineering but in other fields too.
The top companies visiting IIT during their placement program are Microsoft, Qualcomm, Amazon, Morgan Stanley, Adobe, Accenture, Samsung, Google, TATA, ONGC, Strategy and Carin, Goldman Sachs, etc. They offer an average salary package of 10-15 lakhs per annum where Companies visiting Techno India University offer an average salary package of 3.5 lakhs per annum. Some companies taking part in the placement process are Byjus, Wipro, TCS, Infosys, IBM, etc.
The total fee in IIT is around 9,50,000 and that of Techno India University is 3,56,800 for a BTech. course.

There are numerous Companies/Startup Firms that are founded by IIT BHU alumni and are successful too. Since the list is very vast so I would like to mention some of them-

- Husk Power Limited founded by Gyanesh Pandey (Electrical 1999) and Manoj Sinha (Electronics 1999). This company work towards the production of Electricity from Rice Husks in Rural Area of Bihar, Tamil Nadu, and West Bengal.

How strict is Mount Carmel College Banglore?
According to some of my friends studying at Mount Carmel College Bangalore, it is one of the most lenient colleges and yet known for its successful students.
- The college is just a little strict regarding the dress code, other than that it is all good.
- The college just asks their students to wear decent clothing, but it can be western too.
- In terms of college timings to studies, it is very lenient.
- The teachers at Carmel are very good, encouraging, and supportive.
- They are very friendly and the students end up establishing a really nice friendship with them.
- The institute is a little strict about ID cards, usually, the security does not allow the candidate inside even if they are students of the college without an ID card.
- In terms of attendance, the students mostly attend the college even in the last working days of the college due to fear of attendance shortage.
- The candidates also get marks based on their attendance.
The students will definitely enjoy their college life here if they don’t have any specification of studying in a Co-ed college as it is an all-girls college. Other than these, the students of Mount Carmel College are given a chance to learn holistically, it is indeed a very good college.
