After dropping 2 years I got an admission in NIT Jamshedpur in the CSE branch. Will it affect the placements?
When it comes down to whether or not a decision affects your placement, it, first of all, depends on how you have prepared and put effort into your studies. If you have not put much effort into your studies and have rather studied in an unresponsive and impassive manner, then a bulk of companies actually rejecting you is more obvious.

Other than that, you can always go up for management and courses other than the one stated above. It however depends completely on you.
Should I join TCS or IIM Visakhapatnam?
Considering TCS being an IT company providing employment and opportunities to learn and IIM Visakhapatnam a considerable new IIM, here are a few pros and cons regarding both the decisions.
TCS:
- Being in TCS, you will be surrounded by fast-paced engineering graduates, working in IT.
- Usually, candidates working in TCS get enough (sometimes a lot of) time for preparation of CAT, GMAT, etc. This sort of preparation is even enough for getting a seat in old IIMs. Adding to the advantage, the work experience you will have would help you score even better than fresh academics.
IIM Visakhapatnam:
- On the other hand, joining IIM Visakhapatnam has a different set of advantages and disadvantages. Being a new IIM, the faculty and infrastructure are being established with time.
- In a new IIM, you will get the chance to learn a lot from the development of new committees and clubs, which proves to be quite important later.
- The mentoring institute, i.e. IIM Bangalore brings an excellent set of faculties and industry experts for a top-level coaching and management education. But, the placement here is the main concern. Being a new IIM, the institute cannot even compete with top private B-Schools in India, which is a serious disadvantage.
- The government of Andhra Pradesh is promoting a lot of Startups to make good prospects. A start-up village is set up in Vizag.
Overall, the above factors give a brief overview of the scenarios in both choices. The final decision is yours, whether to join the IT industry, get prepared, and crack CAT, or take up IIM Visakhapatnam and get a dive into the unexplored opportunities.
What are some helpful tips for students starting their first year at IIT Kharagpur?
Some helpful tip for students starting their first year at IIT Kharagpur are
CGPA: This step is often ignored after focusing too much on JEE preparations. It is very crucial to maintain 8.5+ CGPA by the end of the first year. The first-year subjects are comparatively easier and mostly are a part of JEE syllabus. So even without attending classes, one can stay at the top by studying sincerely 2-3 weeks before the exams and seeking help from your wingmates.
Hall: Taking part in hall activities is very necessary to maintain good relations with your seniors that will be guiding you on various parameters during your time at IIT. You can take part in Open IITs, sports, and SoCult activities, and learn a lot in Technical events.
Society: It is a very important way to explore your interests so go for as many as possible. They give you a chance to meet new people and develop good personal and professional relationships. The selection procedure of these societies helps you prepare for your GDPI around placements and thus is really helpful.
Trips: KGP is surrounded by many places that can be explored with your friends like Kolkata, Digha Beach, Mandarmani Beach, and Puri. These places can be visited during some weekends, and places like Sikkim or Darjeeling can be explored by the end of the first year.
Fests: IIT KGP has 2 amazing Fests called Spring Fest and Kshitij held during Spring semester that gives you a chance to make thousands of memories. It is a fun-filled experience comprising the star nights in Spring Fest, the lectures you hear in Kshitij, and the bots you see in the arena, all of which are very important. How are the placements at NIT Trichy for VLSI and communications?
As per the details I have received from the alumni and students of the institute, the placement scenario for VLSI at NIT Trichy is considered to be much better than almost any other NIT in the country. Popular companies which have visited the campus of NIT Trichy for the recruitment of students enrolled in the VLSI department are SanDisk, Intel, Samsung, Qualcomm and Texas Instruments.

How good is biotech at BIT, Mesra?
I would like to share the experience of one of my cousins, who studied biotech at BIT Mesra.
It all started after he secured a decent rank in his AIEEE exam and through the All-India quota got admission in BE- Biotechnology course, offered by BIT Mesra.
In the first year of his engineering, students studied the same subjects irrespective of their branches. At the end of his first year, he was quite confident that he had studied hard and cleared all subjects without any problems.
After getting into his second year on the first day in the department he got the reality check. From that day onwards, he doesn’t advise people to join Biotechnology, here at BIT Mesra.
Some vital points about Biotechnology, BIT Mesra:
- The lab equipment is world-class but none of them truly work. If some of them do the students are not allowed to operate them.
- The class schedule is quite hectic, students will have classes throughout the day, 5 days a week.
- For the next 3 years, same things are taught to you under different subject titles. It's like every semester.
So from the experience, I shared with you gives you in and out of the field. Now, it is your choice whether you want to get enrolled in the particular field or not.
Is Asian LAW College Noida a good choice for a five-year law degree?
Asian Law College Noida is not that well-known. It is a 3rd tier private law college. Asian Law College also has a hefty fee structure.
You should try other colleges such as BVP and IPU instead of Asian Law College. You can even apply for Lloyd or Nirma as they are better-known law institutions than Asian Law College, Noida.

Which is a better option: IIT Bombay mechanical vs IIT Kanpur electrical vs IIT Roorkee CS?
The general preference order is
- College wise - IIT Bombay > IIT Kanpur > IIT Roorkee
- Branch wise - CS > Mechanical ~ Electrical.
However, this is a popular trend, and you don't have to follow it. It is best to make a decision based on your individual preferences.
Doing something that interests you is considerably superior in the long run to doing something you dislike solely for money since, after a few years, money no longer motivates you.
Here are some information to make your decision easier:-
- The placement scenario for EE in IIT Kanpur is good and stands next to the CS department in the table.
- Though EE is the largest department when compared with others it still maintains its record well in placements.
- The NIRF Ranking of IIT Bombay is 3, IIT Kanpur is 4 and IIT Roorkee is 5.
- The Average placement at IIT Bombay Mechanical is 21.82 LPA with IIT Kanpur Electrical is 26.27 LPA and IIT Roorkee CSE is 22 LPA.
- More than 250 companies visited IIT Kanpur campus in 2023.
- EE offers specialisations like VLSI, SPCom, RF & Microwave, Power Engineering, Control & Automation. Placements for some of these specializations are 100 %, especially for VLSI, SPCom & RF.
Keeping aside the public’s opinion, my preference order is
IIT Kanpur Electrical > IIT Roorkee CS > IIT Bombay Mechanical
I got a waitlisted rank of 47 for IPM IIM Indore. Do I have a chance?
Last year one of my friends got selected for IPM in IIM Indore and he was selected with a waitlist rank of 41. While most of his batchmates also got around the same rank. So, there is a good chance that you will get admission too.
- 47 is not a bad rank at all for IPM Indore as my friend and some of his batchmates also got a waitlist rank of around 40.
- In recent years, the IPM course has gained immense popularity, thus you can’t have a 100% guarantee of getting selected.
At last, you have fairly high chances but still, it isn’t sure because of the booming inflow of candidates.
What is the placement scope for material science in IIT BOMBAY?
The placement scenario for Material Science in IIT Bombay largely depends on the type of jobs you will be taking. There are a variety of jobs offered like core blue-collar jobs, core executive level jobs, non-core data, finance or coding type jobs.
The majority of the batch goes for non-core data jobs both finance and coding type. A lot of companies offer such roles and there is no scarcity of opportunities in this area.
Next in line are the core Executive jobs offering roles like Tata Steel), R&D, etc. These jobs are offered to a handful of students only and the companies offering such roles visit usually towards the end of placements. These roles are highly coveted among MTech students and one needs to prepare a lot to grab these roles.
Other types of jobs one can take are the Core blue collar jobs that require direct contact with the manufacturing plant. However one cannot depend on placements for such roles at all. Getting these jobs is very easy and all you need to do is keep your academic performance up to the mark and gain some experience in co-curricular projects with professors. After some time you will have identified your area of interest and your professor will help you get a job through his own contacts.
What salary is offered to a CIPET-passed engineer?
At entry-level, CIPET passed engineers are offered salary packages in the range of INR 12,000-15,000 per month. It is a general estimate. The actual figure can vary depending on various factors like your degree, type of employee, sector, etc.
PG students usually get a higher salary. The starting salary for postgraduates is around INR 25,000-30,000.
