SS

NIT Durgapur is ranked at 47 for engineering by NIRF whereas IIEST Shibpur has been ranked at 21 by NIRF in 2019.

Admissions:

NIT Durgapur- The BTech in ECE program at NIT Durgapur observes a general cut-off rank for the JEE Mains of 10603 in round 1 and 13122 in round 7, in the year 2019.

IIEST Shibpur- For BTech admissions at IIEST Shibpur students are required to clear JEE mains and have a minimum of 45% in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in 10+2, along with 30% in English.

Placements:

NIT Durgapur- The ECE program at NIT Durgapur offers top recruitments from companies like Microsoft, Amazon, Dell, and IBM with a record of 72.45% placement rate and an average CTC of 9.09 LPA. It observes a higher number of core companies as part of their placement services as compared to IIEST Shibpur.

What would be better option for me: ECE at NIT Durgapur or a Bachelor's of Technology/Master's of Technology dual degree at IIEST, Shibpur?

I did my dual degree in Aerospace Engineering from IIEST. I will list down the comparison points between an ECE from NIT Dgp and a DD (Aerospace Engineering) from IIEST-

  1. Placement opportunities are much brighter for ECE in India. This is because there are very few core companies for Aerospace Engineers over here.
  2. IT companies prefer ECE students over Aerospace students. Also, R&D jobs are difficult to grab for B.Tech/DD students.
  3. Both are Tier 2 colleges and offer almost the same facilities. JU has better facilities than both of them.
  4. A dual degree from IIEST isn’t a great option. Rather, try to pursue your PG from a TIER-1 college.
  5. If you do good research work in your B.Tech, you’ll have better chances of pursuing your Masters from a Tier-1 college/ foreign university.

Try to figure out what interests you more. My personal recommendation is that you pursue B.Tech ECE from NIT Durgapur.

Which is better, NMIMS Bangalore or WELINGKAR Mumbai?

RS
Rishi Sharma Posted On : March 2nd, 2023
Lives in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India (2016–present)

NMIMS Bangalore is indeed a good choice for management education and is widely considered one of the top B-Schools in India. As you mentioned, the fee at NMIMS is on the higher side, but the quality of education and the reputation of the college are often seen as worth the investment. The faculty at NMIMS is highly experienced and includes many co-teachers at top IIMs, which is a testament to the quality of education at the college.

Placements are also a strong point at NMIMS, with an average of 9 lacs, and opportunities to earn even more for top performers in the batch. This, combined with the brand recognition and prestige of NMIMS, which has produced many successful global CEOs, makes it a highly attractive option for those seeking a management education.

Welingkar is also a good college, but it may not offer the same level of faculty, brand recognition, and placements as NMIMS. However, this does not mean that Welingkar is not a good college; it just may not be as strong in all areas as NMIMS. Ultimately, the best way to determine which college is right for you is to weigh your individual career goals, preferences, and priorities against the strengths and weaknesses of each college.

In conclusion, if you are looking for a top-notch management education with a strong faculty, excellent placements, and a well-respected brand, then NMIMS Bangalore may be the right choice for you. However, it is always important to carefully consider your individual needs and goals and do your own research to determine which college is the best fit for you.

Sir will it be good to opt AIIMS Jodhpur or Rishikesh if I get 674 marks in neet over Seth GS or GMC Mumbai?

Trust me there is no right answer to your question as the choice of the institute is a matter of personal inclinations and goals. However here are a few points you would like to consider before selecting your college

  • Academically, the quality of education and the research facilities available are similar in all the aforementioned institutes and so you choosing one over the other will not compromise your education.
  • The primary factor should be location. Here there are 2 things to consider proximity to your home and the kind of college life you want. If you want a tranquil and calm life go for AIMS Rishikesh but if you are a city lover, go for Seth GS.
  • Infrastructure-wise, AIIMS definitely gives an edge to Seth GS. The modern campus, with top-notch equipment and hostel facilities, offers a more comfortable and modern college life than an old institute like Seth GS.
  • Being a central institute, AIIMS offers more exposure to diverse cultures and a mixed student body.
  • AIIMS Rishikesh follows a total MCQ exam pattern making it easier for NEET PG preparation.
  • The most lucrative aspect of AIIMS is the tag associated with it. You will forever be honored for being a part of an institute of national importance.
  • There is no bond policy in AIIMSwhereas Seth GS has one.

Now it depends on you to decide which factor attracts you and which factor you are ready to overlook. Once you have weighed all points only then you can arrive at a wise decision.

How is the atmosphere of IIT BHU?

AD
Anamika Dasgupta Posted On : February 15th, 2022
B.Tech from Indian Institute of Technology Varanasi (2020)

If you are asking about peer-group, exposure, opportunities then IIT BHU has a lot to offer. It has great peer-group, active clubs, societies, and research groups. Events like start-up fairs, Hult prize, etc. take place around the academic year. You will have good opportunities to groom yourself.

In the past, there had been some safety issues, on campus. The situation is getting better now. Students usually don’t get disturbed by outside activities. Life outside the campus can be quite entertaining. As a city, Benaras is alluring. The ghats, the alleyways, the age-old temples, and the famous thandi would surely make you fall in love with the city.

If you are planning on preparing for competitive examinations like CAT, GRE, UPSC, you will find good institutes in the city.

M.Tech from Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay

IIT Bombay is the most preferred institute among these. It has better placement compared to IIT Delhi and IIT Kanpur. During IIT Bombay placements 2022, students received an average CTC of around INR 25 LPA. There are more non-core job options available for IIT Bombay students as it is located in the finance capital of the country. It also has a better research interface.

IIT Bombay campus is one of the best IIT campuses in the country. The campus also has better hostels for freshers.

Why is biotechnology considered the worst branch in NIT Durgapur?

TS
Tanya Sharma Posted On : September 8th, 2023
Studied at National Institute of Technology Durgapur

Here are some reasons why Biotechnology from NIT Durgapur isn’t a good choice-

  1. Like most Indian colleges, Biotechnology doesn’t receive ample attention from NIT Dgp administration. The department is underfunded, and understaffed, there isn’t proper space and the atmosphere is not ambient.
  2. The majority of Biotech teachers at NIT DGP aren’t good. They expect you to know and remember everything. Students with good pointers are treated fairly, while others become bad students without committing any mistakes.
  3. The academic section and placement cell have no proper communication in-between them. Students from Biotech don’t have proper interaction with other departments. No one wishes to bridge these gaps.
  4. When applying for foreign universities, you will be brainwashed on how you should intern at an Indian college.
  5. No core company visits the campus during the placement season. The only option left is mass recruiters. Many companies restrict only Biotech students from applying for a placement. Placement season is quite frustrating for Biotech students of NIT Durgapur.

Due to these reasons, pursuing a Biotech from NIT Durgapur might not be the right choice.

Which is better Chandigarh University or DAV College Chandigarh?

NS
Nishita Suri Posted On : October 22nd, 2021
Studied MBA Business Analytics, Chandigarh University (2021)

It is dependent on the course you wish to enroll in. Some courses are quite popular at Chandigarh University, whereas others are popular at DAV College.

If you are looking for better infrastructure and placements, Chandigarh University should be preferred over DAV. It has been awarded an A+ grade by NAAC and is the only state-private university to be accredited by NAAC.

The curriculum followed at CU is industry-oriented and based on market standards. The level of exposure you will receive here is exceptional with numerous opportunities. Apart from this, Chandigarh University has tie-ups with international institutions.

The university has recorded excellent placement records with participating companies like Microsoft, Google, Amazon, IBM, Walt Disney, Oracle, and many more.

Which is better: TAPMI or SIBM, Pune?

AD
Aditi Deshpande Posted On : May 16th, 2023

Between the two, we would enthusiastically recommend SIBM Pune.

SIBM Pune is one of the premier B-schools in India. Since its founding in 1978, it has grown exponentially, producing business leaders who have obtained executive positions.

  • Placements: The average placement for 2022 class was INR 26.77 lacs, and the highest package was INR 35.05 lacs (with 111 students receiving PPOs).
  • Average Summer Internship placement for 2022 was INR 2.91 Lacs (for two months), with the highest remuneration amounting to INR 4.40 Lacs.
  • Infrastructure: SIBM Pune is located on the picturesque hilltop of Lavale and has all the facilities for sports (dedicated cricket, football, basketball ground, and sports complex for Badminton, Tennis, and Table Tennis), fitness (fully equipped gym and a swimming pool! ), a 24-hour library, and the highest number of Bloomberg terminals in the nation.
  • Corporate Competitions: SIBM Pune is one of the most sought-after B-schools for corporate competitions that lead to PPIs and PPOs. Students have won the Godrej LOUD, Asian Paints CANVAS, Reckitt Benckiser Global Challenge, Abbott Business Challenge 2.0, Novartis Biocamp Case Study Competition, and ABG HeadstaRt competitions, in addition to reaching the finals in a number of others.
  • Students at SIBM Pune come from various backgrounds, assuring racial and cultural diversity. They have students from over 20 states, and from over multiple countries around the world. The philosophy of "Vasudeva Kutumbhakam" ensures that the university remains a family.
  • Student-Driven Culture: While many B-schools in India can make this claim, SIBM Pune's student-driven culture is genuinely exceptional. Under the direction of our Director, students manage not only the festivals and sports tournaments but also placements, admissions, and corporate and alumni relations. This may appear elementary to an outsider, but it is an integral aspect of the B-school learning process.

SIBM Pune rates in the top five private B-schools in all rankings and is one of the most desirable B-schools overall.
