Review on St. Teresa’s College, Ernakulam

The teachers are always busy encouraging and uplifting the students. The college also provides and number of opportunities for the students to grow. the negatives about the college would be we do not have much area apart from the college buildings to hang around. Plus they keep finding reasons to collect money from the students every now and then but then again this could be found in other colleges as well. St. Teresa’s College being a womens college all the students would equally say that the bathroom facility the college offers for about 2000 students is like 15-20 bathrooms which is horrible and very unhygenic with broken taps and pipes.

Ours being an autonomous college, the college gets to pick the curriculum hence it is appropriate for our courses. Our academic year starts in june and ends in march or april. We have 2 semesters in a year and each semester has 2 internal examination. Our department jas started using the moodle, hence every second internal examination in each semester is condected in it and we find it efficient and effective.

Yes it provide paid and unpaid internship, paid internship's stipen ranges between 5k to 10k rupees. Internships are basically provided through internshala. Placements are also good a wide range of companies provide job to the students such as WIPRO, TECH MAHINDRA, L&T, TATA etc.

We have celebrated freshers day, teresian week, under25 college summit, arts day, union installation day, college day, acheivers day, we held an intercollege business quiz competition called vivarta, there was also an intercollege fest conducted by the english literature department.

I have opted for a government funded course so yes it is feasible, but then I do find that the management asks for a very huge amount if donation from students who have applied for the management seats.

Our college provides scholarship from every department every year for the best perfotming students in various categories, the students here also receive the government grants for those who have applied for it.

Ours is a ladies college, our college engages in a lot of extra curricular activities and also encourages the students to participate in the inter college as well as intra college activities. They give opportunities for the budding entrepreneurs to upskill themselves. The college is run by the church people, so while allotment there is reservation for a specific caste of people. Our college is in the centre of the city hence it ensure easy access to everything. Our college is also pretty famous and we have had many celebrities join us for many events.

alumni and seriors are very helpful too. They share their experiences through the course, jobs, internships and interview. what shoul we do and not to do for a better carrier. They also share their knowledge about subjects and helps in the assignment and other college related events.

I applied for allotment in the college and got alloted to bcom self financing, later when I learned that here is an unfilled seat in the bcom regular I shifted to it via the management quota for which my parents had to pay some amount. I chose bcom because I wanted to pursue a career in finance.

Faculties are very helpful and polite. They helps the student in any problems. They help us even when we are off the college through whatsaap groups and also updates about the college activities. They also suggest best books for the course.
