The management needs to work more on Training and Placement cell and needs to focus on placement of students.
Course Curriculum Overview
The college consits of most of the principles of Engineering. The course is affiliated to BPUT (Biju Pattanaik University of Technology). Because I was into CSE, my course consisted of most of the subjects in all the 8 semesters that helped me crack the interview and get a job at a reputed MNC.
Placement Experience
The training and placement cell is not as responsible as it should be. They lack in communicating and making companies visit our college. The companies that visited when I was in college included Wipro, TCS, IMS Health and few core companies. There are few campus placement organised in different college where we had to visit including Justdial etc.
College Events
Techno-Cultural Event called Exuberance where colleges from different part of the state participate. It's huge gathering and fun time. Festivals like Vishwakarma Puja, Ganesh Puja, Saraswati Puja etc are also celebrated. There is Fresher's party as well with college students only.
Fee Structure And Facilities
As it's a government college, it's very feasible. For hostelites, its not even 80,000 a year. For day scholars, it's around 20,000 a year. I don't know about the changed structure. This was the structure when I was in college. The college has tie-up with Syndicate bank, Berhampur which takes care of all the money. The college campus has a branch of bank where students submit the fee or internet banking to the same branch is supported.
Fees and Financial Aid
No, I never opted for any education loan. College has some reimbursement of fee for lower caste students (as mandate by government of Odisha)
Campus Life
The gender ratio depends on the branch you choose. For CSE, it was almost equal. In a batch of 60 students, approximately 25 were girls. Labs are well equipped and competition such as robotics, debates,sports etc are organised well. There is no discrimination based on caste, creed and relegion or no ragging as well. If done, strict disciplinary actions are taken against this as part of No Tolerance.
Alumni/Alumna
Seniors often visit college in Alumni meet. They are connected to Training and Placement cell of office and are helping the students in getting more companies to the campus.
Admission
Applied through merit list after giving JEE mains. Can apply via CET too. My preference was electronics, college didn't really matter to me. SFIT is average for extc. Maybe even below average. Course is good enough as it follows Mumbai University. Its not new technology, but basics are covered atleast. Extc professors are nice, but strict too. Too many assignments given
Faculty
My course had around 12 lecturers who groomed us for 4 years. Most of them have completed their PhD and few Mtech. Not all the lecturers were upto the mark but most of them have expertise and clarity about their subjects. The lecturers have published many papers in their subjects. They keep themselves updated with new technologies (what CS demands for).
