Remarks
Overall, the college is a good college with a good reputation. The 75% attendance quota is very well enforced, however so attendance has to be regular or else there are consequences. It is one of the biggest universities in the world and the college itself is of a comparable reputation.
Course Curriculum Overview
Overall, I feel that the course curriculum is very difficult. All the subjects require very rigorous hours of study and overall the college fosters an environment with a lot of challenges and competitiveness. The curriculum is mostly theory-based.
Placement Experience
The placement cell usually hires in IT field, regardless of the specialisation. Huge international firms such as Tata Communication Services(TCS), Infosys, wipro etc. often hire from AKTU. It is one of the largest universities in Asia and holds a lot of clout in the hiring circles.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Bachelor in Technology degree is offered in AKTU in various streams such as Chemical, Civil, Agriculkture, Computer science, Biotechnology, Automobile etc. The course fees comes to around Rs. 55,000 per annum with a few adjustments for lab fees and so on.
Campus Life
Extra Curricular activities are of a secondary focus in Abdul Kalam Technical University. The primary emphasis is on developing your skills as engineers and generally the professors encourage studies. There are several clubs like NSS, however.
Admission
The admission is done on the basis of your scores in the KEAM entrance exam, which consists of two papers, ie Paper 1(Physics and chemistry) and paper 2(Maths only). There are 120 objective type questions and it is a real test of your understanding of the subjects.
Faculty
The faculty is very well versed with the different concepts of the subjects they teach. Since it is central university with jurisdiction over colleges all over Kerala, the professors over here are all extremely qualified and experienced.
