Remarks

Overall very good. Academically as well as socially.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course is properly inclined towards imparting professionalism. All the courses are NBA accredited. The institute also provides platform for industrial internship. There are no as such industrial tours but many lectures and webinars and seminars are orgainsed.

Placement Experience

4

Many core companies visit the campus, including finance, software and IT companies. There is a dedicated TnP cell to train students for such companies.

College Events

5

Tecnoesis the 2nd largest teno management fest of North East and Incandescence the largest cultural fest of North East. The annual cultural fest of NIT Silchar. It is one of the most awaited events of the college. This falls in the month of February. Students from various college from all over the country participate in this festival. Tecnoesis is the technical festival of NIT Silchar. This fest falls in the month of October. Here we see young and energetic minds showing their skills. Various events like Robotics, Paper Presentations, Quizzes & lots of exciting events take place for a span of three days.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee breakdown is very much transparent. There is special discount for reversed category and needy students. NIT Silchar the fee per semester is of about Rs. 83500 for the first semester and an additional of Rs 23000 is to be paid for Mess charges. The Hostel is absolutely free. This is due to the fee hike by the MHRD that the fee has considerably increased but economically weak students are given proper exemptions from the Fee according to their income.

Fees and Financial Aid

Campus Life

5

No doubt NIT Silchar has one of the most beautiful campus in country. If you truly are a nature lover, you are going to have a good time there. I loved so because I used to go for a morning jog and congenial atmosphere was my source of inspiration. Facilities: From infrastructure point of view also, NIT Silchar is a good choice. Let me give you my example, I stayed in single room for 3 years and shared (1st year was a merit based allocation; for last 2 years its compulsory to have single room). Apart from this you have good sports facilities, standard class labs, shops and eateries. During final year (2013) we heard this news that NIT Silchar is going to have indoor swimming pool and other gaming facilities (synthetic court for badminton, basket ball, etc.). You can get an update on this as well. Further, you have daily bus services to visit Silchar town and get required things. Summing it up, Life at NIT Silchar is something which you need to experience. It's cozy, a little hussy, full of excitement and opportunistic.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

Yes. In the hostel two share rooms upto 4th sem then single rooms are allotted. In the hostel the Rooms are very good and good quality of food is also provided in the hostel mess. There is a speed internet connectivity and Rooms are good.

Alumni/Alumna

Very helpful seniors and a strong alumni network. Annual alumni meet is also orgainsed under the event Rexian.

Admission

The college was alloted to me on the basis of my JEE rank. I chose Mechanical Engineering BTech programme. This institution is very good for Mechanical Engineering and research purposes. Admission was given on the CSAB counseling via JEE Mains Rank. As per JOSAA counselling only.

Faculty

4

All of them are well qualified, i.e. PhD holders. Average age is about 38 years. There are about 30 faculties in Mechanical Engineering department. Faculties are friendly. Labs are properly maintained but not much emphasis given to practical work. Henceforth all the faculties are very good and qualified.

I like the teachers of my dept but some are not that friendly . Maybe it depends upon their mood sometimes I don't know really . The civil course is practical it's enjoyable. I would have liked it more if it would had more placement opportunities on campus . Otherwise it's fine

The management cell of the college is also do grat jobs. But the main problem I have found is placement. According to the other colleges the placement of this college is not so good. If the college can give more placement then it will become a great college. Overall its a great college full of knowledge.
