Remarks

No bad remarks. Wonderful memories of the college and its management.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

The curriculum was very generic. The course material was prescribed by The University of Madras. At that point of time there were no campus placements. The only way the students could pick up additional knowledge was via browsing reference books, business magazines and industry related research papers. Professors encouraged the students in their holistic preparation and classes were interactive to enable this.

Placement Experience

2

Most of the students in my class pursued higher studies after completing their graduation. A few joined banking services. Also there was a off campus recruitment being done by railways, PSU's and Insurance companies. Many qualified to do MBA's in leading institutes like IIM's. The majority joined professional courses like CA, CS, CWA.

College Events

2

At that point of time we had a quite few programs. Within the Commerce department we had a committee that organised inter and intra collegiate competitions. Oratorical competitions made me a strong orator that I am. There were management fests but were not promoted the way they are today.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fees was very reasonable. The college came under Ramakrishna Mission and money was not important to them. The prescribed books had to be purchased from any of the bookshops. We had to remit cash in the college office. There were no deposits asked for.

Fees and Financial Aid

No educational loans were not availed. Free were waived off for poor and deserving students which is also a form of scholarship. There were various scholarships given by organizations and alumnus who had done well. I'm their honor the outgoing student would be awarded a cash prize. This was an effort to acknowledge their hardwork.

Campus Life

4

Campus life was informal. All male college. Most of them belonged to Southern part of India and few from North India. Back in 1982 when I started college there was no trend of dorm parties. Most of them belonged to the lower middle class families. I had one of my friend who would distribute newspapers and take tuitions to fund his college tuition and to run his family. All had come with the hope that they would get into employment and try elevating their status quo. Even though it was a Hindu college it didn't impose Hinduism on non Hindus.

Hostel Facilities

2

No since I was a day scholar I really didn't need an hostel. Since the college was run by Ramakrishna Mission the hostel was free. The facilities like Wi-Fi were all unheard of those days. The facilities were minimal but those days the families could also not afford much.

Alumni/Alumna

Our alumni is pretty active. The college was a very friendly place and seniors were very polite and made efforts to make everyone comfortable.

Admission

The first was cut off marks. Based on which I was interviewed by the Principal of the college. The principal asked me questions on the subjects I had studied in Class XII. The principal asked me lot of questions and probed to confirm that I understand the subjects and that I was a right choice for the college. This college was ranked in the top 5. It was really close to my house which helped me save a lot of time so that I could concentrate on my professional degree.

Faculty

5

We had a very learned faculty. Some of the best professors in the city was from our college. Most of the professors were passionate and made great efforts in educating the students. We had quite a few doctorates. They were friendly and made it a real joy that enabled students to participate in classes with vigour. The professor went out of the way to encourage students to graduate from campus to corporate.
