BA political science hons is 3 year course, general degree course. With hons each student have to take 2 elective subject aka pass subject. Whole cours is divided in 6 semester system. Each semester having one internal/mid sem and one external/final sem. Aim of this pattern is to make a student aware about political science. It is to be noted it is not at all a research driven subject. It is purely traditional studies. Where student are expected to acquire themselves to a fix traditional structure. Now regarding curriculum. Curriculum is very vast and cover all the aspects of political science, to name few western though, indian thought, IR public administration, public management, comparative politics, indian democracy, indian politics and few more in other words it cover all the area of polity. With hons a student need to take 2 elective. There are 9 subjects available. Since it changes every academic year I am not going to mention it. But during my time we had odiya, english, sociology psychology, education, history and economics. I had history and economics. The syllabus of elective is quite basic which helps a student to have a basic idea about these subjects. Polity is a subject which can finds its leaf in almost every subject. So one can say all the above mentione elective are quite related to polity. This been said. One should be absolutely clear that this course will not help you at all in any way to get job Immidetily after completion of it. Rather it work as a foundation stone which helps you build your career. Our college does not have any facility for placement or internship. Which is now a days quite common. But faculty in my dept. was extremely talented all our JNU pass out. Extremely knowledges and talented. But truth to be told they lake certain fineness.
College placement is not there. As i have said before college does not provid any internship or placement. In fact this course is also not going to land you in a white collar job.
My College had almost no event during my three year period. We had 2 debate competition and 2 sports meets thats it thats all.our college lacks funds to organize any sort of events. If the govt is happy and bestow us with any financial aid only then our college can have any sort of cultural events. But college students are always asked and pushed to attend any govt events. For say swach bharat abhi yaan. Rakht dan shivir(blood donation) but no cultural events. Sad but true.
Fee structure is the most biggest upside its total free. YES totally free. Student need to pay only his or her form fill up fee. During the beginning of every semester. Which is around 450-600 depending on subjects and elective. Rest everything is free hard to believe. But this is the truth.
Odisha government provide various scholarship. For general and minority both. These scholarship are usually based on 12th percentage. One need to secure above 78% to get a scholarship this limit does vary every year. Now talking about loan one dont need any kind of loan. College is very very cheap.
Speaking about gender ratio, every year girls outnumbered boys in almost every department. Same was with our senior and junior both. Since its a government college diversity is very much Noticible, very hard to ignore. Few our very rich from high class other are just opposite, a big chunk of students are underprivileged. So no chance of show off. Not like DU, amity ir any privat college. We have labs for the department Biology chemistry physics geology IT and language lab Also. Labs are quite good. Since I am not a science student can't go in detail. College lacks in extracurricular activities. Students are not very keen in taking part in debate or any other competition per say. Yes we have competition but it more like formality very few students are looking forward to it.
Alumin does not come into the picture at all. Senior's are mostly helpfull there is no ragging or any sort of bulling in capmus. Most of the students are very friendly. Very peaceful environment.
Rajdhani college is pure govt college. Its admission is based on SAMS odisha. It is collective form for all most all colleges in odisha. Usually during the end of june SAMS releases its form. And one month time is given to fill it. After which merit list is generated. Each student can apply for maximum 20 colleges at a time. Once the list is generated. Student can take admission. Broadly this system of admission is some what similar to delhi university admission process for Graduation
Faculty of my college more specifically my department is very fine. All our JNU pass out. They are mine of knowledge you can ask any theory any article or anything they have the answer. But the down side is they are govt employe so they do act that way. Lethargy, lacking finess, not very updated with technology. Dont want any changes. Once the college hour is over they wont really entertain you. But as said they are full of knowledge having done MPhil and research which has change the concept and knowledge of our stream one of our faculty had done extremely detail research on the pokhran nuclear test. Another had been to moscow for IR work. So they guide students very well.
I chose political science as my honor subject because of my interest to know government well. There are about 80 students in my department(1st yr). The teaching staff is very efficient, they clear the doubts of the students and take the class as scheduled in the timetable. They are friendly with the students and help them to grow well.
Placement and Job opportunities in our college is ok. But it provides good job opportunities in various good places for students. Yes, our college provides many internship programs for students. Student's experience regarding the internship program is so good.
College does not provide placement to the students belong to BA hon but there is the placement for other course, students belonging to BA hon. In English, they can get recruited in the same college if they complete their PhD. from the same college.
For the economics department, there isn't any placement as per such but for cs and itm department there are placements. The average package for tech based students is around 2.5 lakh per annum. But if you are expecting a placement in the economics department you are in the wrong place.
Oh, I remember that back then I was allotted the seat based on my marks in English subject in high school. Following the tradition, the college still chooses applicants with impressive marks in related subjects.
Okay, here students individually have to look for golden opportunities. The placement cell is surely there for assistance but the teachers have multiple tasks and duties, so you yourself have to stay updated.
