Kannur Medical College Anjarakandy

Reviewed on Jun 16, 2020

Course Curriculum Overview

Our college offers various courses. There are different courses for PG, UG and doctorate level. I have opted for doctorate of medicine. This course is quite tough and requires most of my time in studies. It includes various assignments and projects.

Placement Experience

As our college is a medical college it offers various placements to the students. Though the college does not guarantee 100% placements but every year almost 60 to 70% of students are placed in good hospitals and companies. College also provides as internships in its hospital. Students are placed easily in best hospitals because of the skills build in them.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Our college is famous for various courses but the fee structure is quite expensive. However the college provide installment basis payment and scholarships to the students which reduces the burden of paying huge sum of amount for marginalised students. As I had opted for doctorate of medicine every year I had to pay an expensive the amount of rupees 850000 every year. As this is a course of 3 years so in total I have to pay INR2550000.

Campus Life

Usually medical colleges does not conduct various extra curricular activities. In our college activities such as freshers Day, valedictory function, NCC and NSS sports day. Seminars and conferences related to current affairs and highly qualified professionals address the audience.

Admission

Kannur medical college is a self funding college which was established in the year 2006. To get an admission in college I had to qualify NEET UG examination as well as I had to submit my 10 + 2 certificate with above 50% school in physics chemistry and biology or biotech. After qualifying the written exam if the students are selected there will be called for counselling session.

Faculty

Our college faculties are highly qualified professionals. They always encourage to do internships and online courses to enhance our learning skills. They always motivate us and will our competitive level. They never show bias between any students and are very supportive towards us.

Experiences so far

Likes

My experience at lissah has been mixing of challenges. Psychology depart has supportive teachers and classes is good
Campus is peaceful and it’s so greenery there are opportunities to take part in different academics
I also like that the psychology department has its own lab and practical exposure and Lissah is well known for psychology itself

Dislikes

I feel that there could be more programmes activities and opportunities for students to make college life
Location could feel like quiet and it’s not in town area
Those who prefer more active atmosphere I would not recommend here

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose bsc psychology because I was interested in understanding human behaviour. The curriculum covers different areas of psychology along with subjects such as major psychology minor statistics and physiology then English mdc . Since I am still in my first year I have only experienced the initial part of course

The campus is well maintained and is clean
Teachers are willing to give individual attention if needed
Above average food is provided in canteen

Dislikes

Lack of campus life as college is strict
Majority of the staff members are the type to hold a grudge against you
Spoon feeding students and not allowing them to think and improvise accordingly

Placement Experience:

Students are eligible for campus placements from semester 6 onwards. But campus placement for civil engineering is fairly low. But companies like Aarbee Structures Pvt Ltd has offered jobs for my mates

All the teachers are well qualified and equipped to teach but the quality of teaching differs as per individual.

Dislikes

The say of students in matters concerning them or others is nil. We have very little say as the management takes all decisons.
Teachers have ego and superiority issues between themselves which might affect the children in 4th year, project phases.
Fests, events and functions are not upto any expectations.Schools in trivandrum have better events than our college.

Placement Experience:

Students are eligible from 7th semester to sit for interviews. The pod.ai app helps us in making the resume and calculating a cgpa to appear for the intwrviews. The pod.ai registration fees is 500?. Companies such as nissan, infosys, commandtech, bimlabs, gulfasia etc has visited . And the highest package was 11 LPA and lowest was 3 LPA

I feel like staffs in my department are pretty good, atleast they fullfill their duties to cover the portions in right time
We have placements training, offered free of cost by college itself
Notes and necessary materials for studying are provided from college itself, and most teachers don't force on buying textbooks or other materials

Dislikes

College is located in aarakunnam, which is a bit remote area hence for various needs we often need to travel a few kilometres even for basic necessities
The road to collage entrance is a steep road, and currently it's under construction (it's been a yr)
Students are required to park their vehicles outside the college, as there is no parking facilities for students inside campus

Placement Experience:

Currently placements are bit low, due to inflation, but compared to other colleges like KMEA, etc we have better placements similar to Muthoot and all. We have placement training, and other supports which can help us crack aptitude exams and prepare for placements Almost 70-80% students are placed every year, with an avg package of 4LPA
