Course Curriculum Overview
The course deals with the essential components such as forensic medicine, toxicology, physiology, dentistry, the science of fingerprinting and the necessary impressions & documents. We are introduced to crime scene investigation practices such as explosion scenes, fire & drug laboratories. This fields also demands a good hold on science subjects mostly related to chemistry & biology. We are given insights to develop strong analytical skills, a good observation and the ability to work with the experts from fields like social science, cyber security, psychology and develop the team spirit. The duration of the course is three years spread over six semesters.
Placement Experience
The placement areas include cyber-crime investigation, consumer & intellectual property rights, mass disaster management etc where the highest package starts from 15 lpa and the average goes down to 5 lpa. Roles offered are forensic serologist, crime laboratory analyst, forensic examiner & toxicologist, forensic dentist and many more.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The total for three years is 45,000 which I consider is feasible as compared to the facilities offered by the college. A library fee of 500 and exam fee of 1000 is to be deposited at the start of the semester. Hostel & mess charges are to be paid separately.
Campus Life
The labs are well updated with latest technology for the convenience of students. Freshers day, farewell, holi, face painting. baking competition, dancing, gazal, singing etc are organised by the college to narrow the regional differences of the students so that they can come together in harmony.Sports activities and workshops on forensic investigation and cyber security are also held every week in our college.
Hostel Facilities
The college has a library where there are collection of rare books regarding different programs. A auditorium which can accommodate up to 150 students whenever any cultural event is held. Comfortable seating and clean classrooms are provided to students for their convenience. The hostel rooms are also spacious with attached bath. You can go for single or double occupancy as per your requirements. The canteen and mess facility is also good. There is a tv in the ladies mess area. Overall I would rate the infrastructure as 4/5.
Admission
You need to belong to science stream with 50% marks in your 12th standard. Any other students students who have given examinations which are recognized by university with 50% marks are also eligible to apply. The students belonging to reserved category and female candidates are given a age relaxation of two years. In other cases the maximum limit for general candidates is 21 years. You can apply for the college online. The admission is strictly based on your marks in 12th standard. I had my name in the second merit list and was called for document verification after which I was granted admission in the college.
Faculty
The faculty members pays a high degree of attention to students problems. They tell them the necessary steps and easy solution in any subject which they are not having a control over. The inorganic chemistry teacher clears our concepts related to forensic technology and research work.Overall I would say the teachers always guide us and tell us to adapt the ability to work for long hours.
