Remarks

Some teachers are not as hardworking. Other than that I'd say that the college management is good.

Course Curriculum Overview

The course curriculum was divided into 4 semesters (each semester being equal to 6 months) at the end of which we had to appear for finals examinations. Apart from that, we had 2 sessional tests each semester, assignments, practical work and viva voce. During the final exams, an internal and an external invigilator would be present for the practical exams and the external invigilator would conduct a viva voce. For our final (3rd and 4th semesters) year, we had to individually take up project work, give presentations on it, compile and print the entire work and appear for a viva voce in the University. We have alot of extracurricular activities in the form of College Week every year, presentations from guest faculties, and in our final year, had a week long educational excursion in Kolkata (the places would vary every year).

Placement Experience

3.5

For my department, there was no campus placement. We were encouraged more to appear for state-level and national level tests for internships or other jobs. The teachers provide information about the various competitive exams and our scopes in the field and how we can go about it. For the other departments, I'm not sure.

College Events

5

The biggest event is the College Week which I'd say is the best time of the year. Every day we have different themes for dressing up and multiple events like basketball, treasure hunt, food fest, singing, dancing, eating competition, cultural events etc. There would be music all day long while you can chill around and enjoy. The two hostels, separately, also hosts extravagant college weeks and other events. Apart from that our college hosts debate competitions, photography exhibition, freshers, farewell, alumni parties, concerts, etc, many of which students of my department can't attend because of less free time and work overload.

Fee Structure And Facilities

For my program, It was around 80, 000 rupees. Each of us are provided with fee cards every semester that has to be filled up with details regarding payment and signed by the office. Then the fee has to be paid in cash to the bank in the college where payment records are kept. There were no additional charges that had to be paid to secure admission in the course, except for the entrance fee (I don't remember how much I paid but it wouldn't be more than Rs. 400) paid in the beginning.

Fees and Financial Aid

I did not apply for the scholarships (or education loans) that the college/university provided because I wasn't from the state and therefore not eligible. So I'm not sure about the criterion and the sum provided.

Campus Life

Campus life was the best ever, I'd forever cherish it. Students can be found chilling all over the campus and since phones were not allowed in the campus, students interacted more with each other. We had like four canteens to have our lunch/snacks from, so it was always very enjoyable. I would say the gender ratio would be 1:1 as there is no discrimination against anything. Students can be found from all over the country and since some departments offer student exchange programs, you can also find some students from abroad. And I don't think political or economic status has much to do with securing a place in the college. As for dorm parties, those were extravagant ( and participation was compulsory) even though I couldn't attend any because of workload. Other than that the college hosts concerts and various other events, the college week being the best ever. There are student organizations and different workshops organized by different departments in which, sometimes, attendance was mandatory.

Hostel Facilities

I haven't opted for the college hostel but incase someone wants to, they need to appear for an interview and the list of selected candidates are then announced. I have no proper idea about the fee structure of the hostel but it's pretty grounded. I stayed in hostels outside college, I wouldn't say it's cheap but it's affordable. I also stayed in rented apartments which can get a bit expensive if you want good space, facilities and comfort.

Alumni/Alumna

My seniors were really great and helpful. There were very friendly and ever ready to help. Since our workload is heavy and we seldom get to interact with our seniors, the college organise a recreational trip every year for us and our seniors together to have some quality time together and get to know each other. As for the alumni network, I've never met anyone so I can't say for sure. But after passing you need to register (Rs. 250) in the alumni network. And whenever there's an alumni gathering, the college hosts dinner parties.

Admission

I graduated in Biotechnology and wanted to earn a post graduate degree as well. I knew St. Anthony's College was a reputed institution and wanted to give it a try. I went and got an entrance form and paid the entrance fee. Then there was a written examination and appeared for an interview after getting selected in the written test. Then a list was announced for the selected candidates and the deadline for the payment of admission fees. I got selected, paid my fees and got enrolled in the program.

Faculty

4.5

All the lecturers are highly qualified with the H. O. D. (Head of Department) being the most qualified with a Ph. D. degree and also has his work published. The other lecturers have Ph. D. degrees with DBT BET qualifications and industrial experience with a pharmaceutical company. All of them are thorough with their subjects and put it in great effort using presentation slides for better understanding.

Course Curriculum Overview:

This course might be one of the best courses in yhr University, if not the best. Placement rate, comparative to other courses, is the highest as of what I know. The curriculum dhould be improved. Lot of unnecessary subjects, that too with a lot of credits. The important subjects are just taught at the basic level, which should be way higher. The exam frequency and timings are good. But they are way too easy.
