Remarks
Because at that time in 2010 it was the only Govt Engineering college in Himachal Pradesh. It was also one of reputed Institute in Himachal Pradesh at that time. One more reason to opt for this college was that it was situated in my home town. There is no any provision for diploma students to get admission in NIT's and IIT's so students who earn maximum marks in their Engineering diplomas they also have to take admission in either state Govt or private Engineering colleges, so that was also one of the reason. The environment of sundernagar also force me to stay there and to persue my degree from this college, because sunder nagar is one of cleanest city in North India. The lot size of students and number of branches at that time ie in 2010 was also less which makes the focus of Training and placement officer more clear and it benefitted us in our final campus placements.
Course Curriculum Overview
Yes we got a lot of industrial exposure there. No doubt at very starting we face a lot of difficulities due to shortage of faculties and laboratory machinaries but at that time we got the aid of Govt. Polytechnic sunder nagar which is very oldest and reputed polytechnic in North India.
Internships Opportunities
Yes in our curriculum there was provision of two times internship program. I completed my first internship from Himachal Pradesh Road transport Divisional workshop mandi h. P. Of 42 days while for second time I completed my internship from Allein Duhangan a hydro power project situated at Manali having capacity of 192 MW.
Placement Experience
When we passed out from our college there was not so much of placement opportunities available. Not even a single company visited the college campus for interviews. However student got placed on their own efforts in various reputed companies while many os students of my batch prepare for bank exams and many have cleared the exam, lot of students got selected in Army after cracking the SSB. At present many of my batchmates are working in Hero honda, Mahindera and Mahindera and in many more reputed companies. The maximum textile students had been placed in vardhman limited ludhina. Now the college have a well established placement cell and even the alumini of the college also help the placement cell for placing students in their companies. Now Jawahar lal Nehru Engineering college is a reputed name for industries.
College Events
In 2006 -2010 there were lot of extra curiculler activities in which our college had participated like inter college and inter university sports meet, Tech fest named Twask, and lot of other activities of NSS and NCC
Fees and Financial Aid
No, at that time there was not even a single scholarship for Engineering students. So I was needy even though I didn't get any. There was not even a MOU signed with any bank for availing the loan facility. However anybody can get loan from any bank for education purpose.
Campus Life
This college started in 2006 but it's campus was not constructed upto 2015. Even though the construction work had been started in 2008. But now it have a well constructed building with lot of space and laboratory facilities.
Hostel Facilities
No I was day scholar. Because at that time it was just started so there were no hostel facility in college. However the hostel with polytechnic were shared. But I don't know the hostel fee exactly. One could easily avail the hostel facility by applying at the starting of the year to the college authority.
