JSSATE, a decent college

SG
Saransh Gupta

Remarks

JSSATE, Noida is located in sec -62, Noida which is the hub of various companies. There is no dress code in college. Attendance needs to be 75%. The college does not spend money on fests so fests are very average. In my time admission was from UPSEE counselling but from 2021 it is through JEE Mains. Location of the college is one of the major factors of selecting it over others. Especially if you are getting CS or IT then its good as placement is good in CS/IT whereas there are not much placement scenarios in other branches. I refer collegedunia.com website before selecting the college as it provides with all insights of this college.

Course Curriculum Overview

6/10

I choose BTech in CSE because CSE/IT are good in terms of placement in JSSATE. Companies do come to the campus for CSE/IT/ECE mostly. Some teachers are qualified and teach in a nice way but it's only a few like in most colleges you have to study yourself in order to score in exams. The faculty: student ratio is quite good. There are almost 60-80 students in one class. There are 3 sessionals in one semester out of which best of 2 scores in sessionals are taken into account for internals and the level of the exams are much higher than the semester exams.

Placement Experience

6/10

Majority of placements are in CS/IT/ECE only. Placements are average with the average package is around 2-4 lakh CTC/ per annum. Various companies like Samsung, Deloitte, Byjus, adobe, etc visit the campus for their placement drives and pick students accordingly. Highest package in 2020 was around 20 lakh/year in adobe. Around 60-70% of CS/IT student get placed either on-campus or off-campus. I will sit in the placement drive but will also try for the off-campus placements.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions

JSSATE does not give value for your money. Fees are hiked every year without any proper reason or without improvement of any kind. The fees change year by year fee of 1st is higher than that in 2, 3 and 4 year. Up scholarship program is available. You can fill application for the scholarship if the income of the father is less than a certain figure. Generally, the OBC candidates always get their scholarships but for general candidates, only the luck factor works.

Campus Life

5/10

Zealicon is one and the only fest held every year at the college. College does not provide hardly any financial assistance it's only the students arranges the fund for its smooth conduct. Some year Mytri, a sports fest is also conducted in the college. The library is not large but its average in size and the availability of some good books and journals are missing from the library. There are 2-3 amenities shops on the college campus with 2 cafeterias (1 big and other small). The sports culture is not the kind of you expect to be but its pretty average. No coaches as a student are the only coaches of a particular sport. There are several societies or clubs in the college that are both technical and non-technical. Nibble Computer Society (NCS) is one the best technical society for all coders out there in the college. Illuminati is a drama society etc.

College is something that everyone, at least sometime in their life, strives for. It’s the finish line that many cross after running the twelve-year race that is the education system. Go to college, get a job, settle down, have a family. But, sometimes it costs more than it’s worth. And sometimes it’s not the end goal that’s in mind. Here are some pros and cons of getting a college education: Pros: Gain a better education: College is a tool for you to use to further your education. You’re able to learn more about the things you love, and about the things you don’t. College means more classes, which means more information for your brain to soak up. More job opportunities Many jobs require at minimum a college education. And with a diploma behind your belt, that means that more high-paying and interesting jobs are going to be available to you. Employers usually don’t bother with your resume unless you have a college education. New experiences Outside of your hometown, there are countless people for you to meet, and new places to go, and college is a way to do that. As an adult on campus, you will have so much more freedom. Freedom to check out that new coffee shop down the street, or wander around campus at your leisure. It’ll all be new to you, a breath of fresh air in your life. Try new things and see new people. Get outside of your comfort zone/boundaries When you go to college, you’re expected to be independent. You won’t have anyone holding your hand the entire time, instead you will have to do things by yourself. This will test your limits, and while it can be stressful at times, you’ll find that you’re capable of so much more than you expected. Cons: Debt/Student loans It’s common knowledge: college costs money. It’s expensive, and while scholarships help, they only help to ease the future debt. Student loans are an option too, but once you graduate they’ll come knocking on your door. This lack of money that is common among college students leave them turning out their pockets and turning towards their family, friends, and the bank for a way out. Stress School is stressful, and college is going to be even more stressful. You’re more or less on your own. It’s up to you to email professors, to get yourself to class, to figure out how to graduate. Even though you’ll have counselors as resources, having to be independent is still going to stress you out. Jobs don’t require college education There are successful careers that doesn’t require their employees to have a college education, like veterinary technicians, opticians, and dental hygienists. These jobs pay well, and offer you a steady income and way to have a comfortable life. Famous/rich people without college education Think of Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, and Ellen DeGeneres. All three have something in common: lack of a college degree. Many celebrities and entrepreneurs started a semester or two of college, but eventually dropped out without graduating.
