Entrance Preview

I took CET entrance exam. My rank was 5600 which was not that good. I opt for this particular college because of good reputation and near to my hometown.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

Course curriculum was very good in my college. I have my friends in other colleges but when i compare it with my college, i found it better. More or less it is same in all colleges.

Internships Opportunities

College internship was not that good. No company came for internship and no point of stipend. We as a student have to see where it is best for us for internship. Most of my batch mates joined some institutes like java, c++ to enhance their programming skills.

Placement Experience

3

Placement & job opportunities was very good. Lot of companies came and most of them used to be joint campus in Chitkara College when i was in 6th semester. Companies like Accenture, Infosys, Syntel, IBM, Satyam, Tech Mahindra, Wipro etc. Around 50% students were placed in my batch. Approx package what most of the companies offered was 3 lakhs/ annum.

College Events

3

There used to be one or two events celebration per annum on an average. Events like Tech- Fest and quiz competition used to happen in our college. There were 4 houses and each one participate and compete with each other in quiz. In Tech fest students from other colleges also participate.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee structure was normal and in line with other colleges of Punjab Technical University. Per semester fees was approx 30k plus 15k for hostel per annum and monthly charges of mess as per food consumption.

Fees and Financial Aid

No, there was no such good scholarship/ loan facility offered by our college. Anyone who wants to take loan has to take themselves.

Campus Life

3.5

Campus life was just awesome. Everyone should taste campus and hostel life. You meet with students from different part of the country and gain some knowledge from their experiences. Gender ratio in our college was 60:40 boys and girls approx. Hostel parties we used to arrange by ourselves. There was no such racism and politics in college. So, overall it was very nice experience.

Alumni/Alumna

Senior students was very cooperative and helpful. Yes we were ragged as well when we were new to our college but not that bad. It was most of interactive type. Then also in our entire tenure of B.Tech, we keep getring help from our seniors.

Companies start coming summer internships in the 5th and 6th semester though ,CG cuts are imposed so very less students are elgible to sit for these companies, The real placement season is 7th and 8th semester and many companies visit campus for placements. around 60 percent students got placed in the recent placement drive. The major recruiters are: Oracle, CISCO, JPMC,Deloite,IBM,ZS etc.

NITJ has a placement cell, also known as the Centre of Training and Placements(TPO office of NITJ). The placement scenes differ depending on the courses offered. The average placements are 12-14LPA in the Computer Science branch. Every year, hundreds of companies, including Pvt and govt both. PSUs like HPCL and BPCL recruit students based on merit and academic excellence.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I’d rate the curriculum like 7/10 in terms of relevance and comprehensiveness — it covers all the major CSE subjects like DSA, OS, DBMS, CN, AI, ML, Cloud, Cybersecurity basics, etc., and honestly that was one of the reasons I chose this course because at least the core subjects are solid even if PTU keeps some old-school stuff in the syllabus. The curriculum does prepare you for real-world stuff, but only to a point — like, if you focus on coding labs and projects you’ll be fine for internships, but if you depend only on classroom theory then it won’t help much because industry wants hands-on skills. For higher studies also it’s okay because theory depth in subjects like OS and DBMS is decent enough. But yeah, improvements are definitely needed — some subjects feel outdated, teachers should use more practical examples, and we need more real projects instead of copy-paste lab manuals; also some faculty teach directly from slides which gets boring fast. Exams come twice per semester (sessionals) plus the final end-sem around December/May; they’re mostly easy if you write long answers, but tricky if you rely only on understanding because PTU likes theory-heavy questions. Overall, the system works, but it could be way more practical and industry-focused.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.
