Entrance Preview

I choose Physics as my mains subject and there is no such entrance test as it was a Bachelor course. My percentage in 12th standard was 69% in science whuch was accepted by the department of physics. I choose physics over other subjects as it was my favourite and alsi the beat department in the college.

Course Curriculum Overview

2.5

Average. The course provides the basic knowledge for research and futher studies. With chemistry and maths as an elective, its the perfect combination for research and being a SCIENCE student. The Physics Concentration is a flexible program for students who plan to pursue technical or professional careers in areas requiring a sound grounding in physical science and mathematics. Students can use the concentration to prepare for employment immediately upon graduation or for continuing on to graduate study in a wide variety of fields. Students who are certain that they want to go on to graduate study in physics or in a closely allied field.

Internships Opportunities

No.Participating in an internship is an important experience to complement the learning that student is doing in the classroom. It can provide him/her with some good practical experience. However, there are many additional, somewhat more concrete reasons why student may want to be sure to include an internship in his/her college experiences. This is what the college lacks. The caree of the student is not taken care of but the college

Placement Experience

0.5

During my 3years course, no companies/firms came to offer the students a job. This is the one thing the college needs to focus on.With many employers increasingly looking for experience as well as academic achievement in candidates for their positions, work placements have an increasing importance in gaining a good job.Undertaking a work placement can offer students plenty of real benefits for progressing into their chosen career

College Events

4

1. College Week - It is organised by the Student's body on the concent of College authoritues. It us the time when all the students longed for. Different sports items-indoors and outdoors are organised and played for a week,as the name suggest. The most interesting part of this Week is Saturday, the last day or "Rose Day",when all students dressed in formal dresses exchanged rosea and gifts with their Romeos or Juliets.2. Teachers Day - Organised by senior students. Gifts were presented to teachers, different dances, cultural shows, songs and special items were presented by different communities in the college.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Talking about fees, Shillong college is one of the most affordable college in the state for the common people like us. This is one of the many reasons i like about it.The fee structure is feasible. Its not expensive like other colleges. I have opted for BSc course. For the first year I had to pay thirty thousand and for the next two years, fifteen thousand each for an year. So basically its not that expensive. And there is no extra or hidden things to be paid. We get a receipt to after thQuestions are set from every nook and ore payment for security purposes. And its cheaper then other colleges which don't even provide this good studies and campus and faculty members.

Fees and Financial Aid

Scholarships are availed from the respective Tribal affairs Departments of the North Eastern States through the College. A student from a particular state can avail this scholarship fromn n his/her respective state through the college only. Unfortunately this scholarship is only for the ST/SC students.

Campus Life

2

During my three years life in thus college, what i found is that boys are more in numbers than girls every year especially in my delartments. The college students are from different states and societies. There is no such descrimination regarding sexes, cultural, race, religion or any other issues.

Hostel Facilities

2

The college dose not have hostel facilites for boys. It provides this facility with minimal seats. I don't stay in the hostel so I don't have much about it. But according to my friends who stays in hostel the facilities are really good and the food too is not bad. There are PG's around our college with a monthly fees between 4000-6000 per month

Alumni/Alumna

The Senior students does not care about their juniors much. I haven't seen them guving a hand to their juniors regarding their studies or any issues. Felt like everybody was busy with their respective ways that they had no time for others. Juniors dose not care this much and hence dosen'taffect them much.

Exam Structure

Exams were strictly conducted. Exam rooms were like "pin drop silent".Well planned, strict, cant take exam if you dont have 70%, money also doesnt work so please ensure you have attendence. Exams are balanced, its not too much of pain. And something is not fare according to students. But it should be like that. Somethings should be strict. In our college, it's hard to cheat.

Faculty

4

Faculties in my departments are well trained in their lines. They have had an experience for more than 5 years or more. Easy to understand their teachings, and are professionals in their respective lines/courses.As a Semi - Government institution, the college recruit anly well qualified and experiences faculties as per my knowledge.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum of my course is pretty good and helpful with proper teaching about the subject, it is also helpful for real-life work and activities with proper hands-in skills teaching and theoretical knowledge. But there is a big setback that it is not recognised by the Indian council of agricultural research(ICAR). Recognition by the ICAR will have a big boost in the course and department

Course Curriculum Overview:

Although this is a private college still it has recognition for the efficiency of this college. I wasn't interested in medicine and engineering. so I had to do a BSc so this college is one of the best in North East India. From the chemistry department, there are various scopes such as the food industry, oil industry, wax industry, ONGC, OIL, and various jobs. The teaching method is efficient and if there is any chance to improve then I would like to say that faculty should monitor that every student is being facilitated with proper materials.

Well, it is a great experience at my college. People are quite open-minded and positive always giving help to those in need. The teachers are quite friendly and always helpful. The college facilities like the library and study materials are quite fine. The college campus is also big enough to feel free to walk around. In short about my college it is one of the best.

Remarks:

The college management is very polite and kind. Overall, I think that I finally know why it is one of the top colleges. It has made such a positive impact on me and given me the confidence to face the real world. It has taught me that being timid and shy is of no use. The fees are feasible even for common people and faculties are well trained. It got all what it needs to be a good college and yes it is. I would recomment it to everyone.
