Remarks

I have applied through JEE main marks in the electronics and communication branch, the selection process was very smooth and there was no hassle. You can also apply through the SMU entrance examination. You can find the application details on the SMU website.

Course Curriculum Overview

I was always interested in electronics and semiconductors and SMIT is one of the best engineering institutes in the northeastern part of India it has excellent infrastructure including the library and the sports complex. There are around 20-30 faculty members and around 50 students in the electronics and communication branch. Most of the professors are Mtech or PhD holders.

Class Size: 200Course Fees: INR 295000 per year

Internships Opportunities

4.5

During the 7th sem majority of the students gets an offer from multinational companies, later this gets altered into full-time jobs. You will be working for 5-6 months as an intern in the company. you will get a stipend of around 20k

Placement Experience

From the 7th semester, we become eligible for placements. I got two offers during the 7th sem one from Infosys and the other from BOSCH, I chose the latter. Microsoft, Dell, Shell, and Wells Fargo offer a very good package.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee structure is around 3 lakhs per year, the jobs opportunities are very good and almost 90% placements every year. Companies such as Microsoft, Dell, BOSCH, and Amazon come every year and almost all the students get placed with good packages.

Campus Life

The annual festival which happens in the month of March is called Kalraav which is undoubtedly the best fest in north India. They also have a world-class library where students can study in peace. The sports complex is also very good.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

So, the hostel room is very spacious and has an attached washroom and two students can share the room. The food in the mess is a buffet system that includes veg and NV. The wifi speed is also very fast.

Hostel Fee: INR 60000 per year

Interview Experience

4.5

There was no GD during the admission. You have to give the SMU entrance examination or JEE mains once you have cleared the examination you can go for counselling and get admit into your desired branch.

Faculty is Good but still for the new student dont't expect much you have to study by your own teacher will help with the exams question pattern.
Student engagement is good monthly shows, game competition like cricket match, football, basketball, tennis, volleyball, hackathons and many more things

Dislikes

Mess food is not as expected as it was on first day of joining the college, water contains too much iron
Teachers will not give that much attention to the students

Placement Experience:

Placement Experience:

Good environment, with the campus being beautiful.
Lots of activities, have taken part in many.
The seniors and teacher here are really friendly and helpful.

Dislikes

There are a lot of exams, with the college following the same old system followed by most engineering colleges.

Placement Experience:

I do not have much idea about this field. If I'm not wrong internships begin from 2nd to 3rd year itself, and placements from 4th year. The avergae package here is around 6 LPA, and the highest package offered is 56 LPA. That'll be all from side.

NIT Sikkim detailed Review and insights

Likes

I liked the faculty as they are very supportive and teach well.
The distraction free environment as there are no malls, clubs, etc. to waste your time so that you can focus on skill development
The exposure you get being in NIT as it is an institute of National Importance.

Dislikes

During rainy season it creates a lot of problem as there are a lot of leeches there and we are afraid to go out.
The mess food is not up to the mark and tasteless, although it is a problem with every mess
The hostels are very congested and we dont get place to sit on a table and study.

Placement Experience:

After 5th semester, the college has on-campus internship options and after during 7th semester, you will be eligible to sit for campus placements. Many companies come for campus placement including IBM, NVIDIA, Deloitte, etc. PLacements for CSE, ECE, and EEE are very good. In 2023 highest placement was from EEE of 44 lakhs from NVIDIA. In Mechanical most of the students get PPO. For Civil, very least options are available. Usually, 80% of students get placed every year.

Placement Experience:

Placement scenario is quite good in our college. Since it is one of the newly established NITs. We've better companies coming on campus as compared to other NITs that were established alongside us.
