UNVEILING THE LIFE AT MDI GURGAON

When it comes to marketing there are only a few b-schools that are better than MDI, Gurgaon. Having an interest in marketing I opted for the core program offered by MDI, G. The HR program is also very coveted, being the second best in the country, The institution has well-established professors who are also world-leading researchers. The teaching method is unique and practical and practice-oriented. However, the class hours being 90 minutes are too long. The exams are conducted timely and there is a fixed routine for everything, including a strict attendance policy.

The institution not only provides placements and summer internships but also provides opportunities for doing live projects, through which students can gain practical experience, build networks, and also earn. Coming to the aspect of internships and placements over 87 companies visited in 2022 to offer placements in certain roles about finance, marketing and sales, investment banking, consulting, HR roles, operations, etc.

MDI, Gurgaon being in the top 10 b-schools of India, offers 100% placements to all its students. The students are offered a summer internship after the end of the first year and it is in the last semester that a student gets placed. There are over 90 companies that visit the college for offering placements and the average placement ranges around 28.5 lacs.

I had to avail of an education loan to complete my diploma from MDI, G. Recently starting in 2022, the institution increased its fees for PGDM and PGMD HR to 23.47 lacs from 21 lacs. The course fees for IB range somewhere around 30 lacs and also saw a 2.5 lacs increase. The stipend for internships obtained through the summer program lies somewhere around an average of 2.7 lacs.

There are around 16 student-run clubs along with other interest groups. Out of the 16, 4 of them are event clubs that conduct fests and activities evenly spread all across the year. Usually, the course begins somewhere around June and the year ends next year in April. The campus is beautiful with lush green fields and trees and lots of amenities to play different kinds of sports and also to help keep oneself fit. The library is quite resourceful and the classrooms are advanced with great facilities.

The institution lies in the center of Gurgaon. The Registration process for the Hostel happens during admission itself. There is no separate process as taking a hostel is compulsory for every student. The meal quality is very good in the college, although it can be made better in many aspects. There are two categories of hostels, one is a recently constructed one which has all the facilities one can ask for in a hostel, including elevators and centrally connected ac and heating systems. The old hostels however need some improvement in terms of hygiene. There are ample places to avail snacks 24*7 within the campus.

A candidate must appear for CAT or GMAT to get admitted to MDI, Gurgaon. The average batch percentile in cats stays around 98 each year, although there are exceptions. A candidate must have a minimum of 50% in graduation and 12th to be eligible for admission. It is after that the CAT percentile along with the specific criteria of the institution for the year determines whether a candidate will receive a call or not for an interview. The application form can be found on the website of the institution, and the admission process is smooth, as all the information is relayed from time to time through mail, either by the college office or the student-run admission committee. The college doesn't have any reservation policy.
