Course Curriculum Overview

This course allows us to be creative, and spend more time with the outer world. There's always something new coming up every other day which makes it even more interesting and less monotonous. One professor is allotted for every 20 students. The professors should be atleat M.Arch level qualified or Masters / Ph.D. in any other subdomain (eg: Masters in Urban Design) The exams are held after every 6 months and the difficulty level is Intermediate.

Class Size: 40Course Fees: INR 200000 per year

Internships Opportunities

Lots of companies namely Archriti, the biggest firm in Kolkata offered internships with a healthy stipend. Along with a healthy stipend, you get to learn the line of work you're in. Multiple projects were given namely Hospital, Residential, and Commercial designs were provided to us, and had to design based on functionality.

Placement Experience

The placements at the college are pretty average, but it also depends on the student. The students become eligible for placement on the 10th sem. A total of 32 companies visited our college with at least 60-70 offers. The highest package would be around 10-12 lacs and the average package would be 1-1.5 lacs. Around 70-80 students get placements. My aim is to pursue M.Arch in the School of arch. and planning.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees hike every semester, it increases to 10-15k. The total cost of studying would be around 10-11 lacs. The college helps students coming from low-income groups, by providing scholarships. The job I received was as an assistant architect in a firm called Prashant Architects which is located in Gangtok.

Campus Life

Amiphoria is the annual fest. And Hackathon is the annual tech fest that is conducted in the month of march. The quality and availability of books in the library are Moderate. You would find all the required amenities in the classroom. Sports and Extracurricular activities are valued on campus with competitions being held every week. There are various clubs in the college namely Music, drama, culinary, etc. run by students.

Admission

Eligibility of the course was to have atleat 75% in Physics, Maths, and Chemistry combined including Qualification in the Nata exam. We can find application-related data on the official amity Kolkata website. One improvement which I'd like to see would be the college following strict Nata qualifications and should provide admission only based on merit.

Likes

IIT Kharagpur gives you exposure to every domain you are interested in.
Societies and clubs are very active, and conduct many events regularly
Seniors are authorised to help their juniors if they are having any load in academics

Dislikes

In our college, gender ratio is about 1:4

Placement Experience:

After 7 semesters students are eligible to sit in placement exams. Approx. 350-400 company visit our college for recruitment. Highest package of 2024-25 session is 2.18 crore and maintaining of a average package of 18LPA .

Likes

Campus is amazing, green and vast. Halls are also good and connectivity is amazing. Only cycles are allowed for undergraduate students.
There is not any positive point as such, but the culture is hostels and student organisations should be revived. It was better before Covid and it is still becoming better like before.
Students are free for their choices, there are various societies to make the student ready for being like their idol and also this improves their skills and personality.

Dislikes

There is nothing much to be disliked about, But the companies here which came for placement and internship has provided less packages in the year 2023 but this was because of the recession which was going on worldwide.
Architecture department is loaded, the third year is very hectic and if you are in any society or student organisations, it will surely affect your CGPA
Other than that, everyone here is improving himself/herself which is a good point. The bad point is the boy is to girl ratio is not very good

Placement Experience:

Around 70 percent students here opt for placements, others might go for Higher studies or for business/startups. This number might decrease this year and within next few years as the Startup craze is increasing in students

Likes

The location of the college is very good, bus stop is 50m away metro station is 500m away
Street food is very affordable near the college
The faculties are very knowledgeable and friendly

Dislikes

No proper canteen in the college 1 or 2 but with high MRP
No proper stationary shop is available near the college
No proper placements are here you have to search by your own

Placement Experience:

In architecture we doesn't have placements through the university we have to search it by our own explore the outer world and chase for the aim that we are pursuing through this 5 years. The professors will help us out somehow for sure.

Likes

I liked the faculties expertise, teaching methods and mentorship quality etc.They are very helpful and they are just like friend to us
I liked the various club from our college and I like to organize events which I am a part of.I feel very lucky to being a part of swarakriti.
I liked the senior's behaviour towards us.They are very friendly and very helpful

Dislikes

I disliked the infrastructure,campus building and the environment.They are not very welly settled.The stools and the desk in classroom are not good.
I disliked the placement method as there are very less opportunity for placements as we get placements only nearby our college
Sometimes some unfamiliar incident happened in the campus which I didn't liked

Course Curriculum Overview:

Actually from childhood I like to make creative things and according to that I think and draw and I always fascinated to do something about design. The curriculum prepared me to become a good architect. I feel sometimes the theory part should improve and also their teaching methods which are held by visiting faculties not our department faculties. The gap between two exams should be more then only we have some time for our preparation.

I liked the harmony in the campus as it is surrounded by greenery, bonding between kgpians is fantastic.
consistent support from the seniors is outstanding as they set up meetings with freshers. they teach us the culture of IITKGP.
campus is extremely large. it has nice infrastructure. buildings are very good, especailly the main building is iconic.

Dislikes

I am pure vegetarian and we (students both veg and non veg) have our meal in same area.
places which are outside the campus is like a village only. It does not contain any malls,cafe etc.
sometimes, normal days like mondays to fridays are very loaded such that we feel very stressful, headache, etc.

Placement Experience:

so if we talk about placements, then its currently not good but it does not means that placement is totally zero . it varies every year but currently its going down. so after 3rd year you can apply for internships and placements . and if you are in 1st or 2nd year then you can apply for free or paid internships to learn more and more to build you cv. Highest package offered was 2.68 crore rupees per annum and average package is around 18 - 20 lakhs rupees per annum. companies participated in last session was 61 and total offers made were 700. number of international offers were 19 (6 offers were more than 1 crore per annum). number of students placed in 2023 were 1750. popular recruiters were ITC limited, goldman, sachs, HUL . so those who dont get any job or they are not placed , they basically continue to become enterpreneur. my plans after completing my degree to become a famous architect.

First of all, college studies are very good
The college campus is kept very clean and tidy
All our professors are very helpful and they teach very well

Dislikes

The administration faculty of the college is very poor
The food of the college canteen is very bad. The behavior of the canteen workers is very bad
The college campus is very small and sports facilities are not good

Our college placement is very good.After 8th semester students become eligible for campus placement There have many companies which are visited our college.Highest package of company is 30k and lowest is 5k

OmDayal College of Engineering & Architecture is, at present, running Euro II/III compliant vehicles for carrying its students who have opted for transport facility, covering Kolkata, Howrah and 24 Parganas.

Remarks:

The Alumni are well connected and visit the college often. Some seniors are extremely helpful while others are more interested in social interaction. Most of the permanent faculty members have been students here and they have all affected our experiences positively.

Remarks:

It’s a ragging free campus. The infrastructure . The computer department lab is also good with PC's of good quality. The college has a , a gym, e-library, a big playground and a basketball court. Wi-Fi is available to students at all times.

Remarks:

Seniors and alumni are very helpful and friendly. College environment is relaxed and promotes inter-batch interaction providing great amount of exposure. While helping out seniors, juniors learn more from them than in studios.

I got accepted to all private colleges which had psychology but I chose amity because they give you the freedom and to some people it might feel that amity is a fashion show but no, our hoi is very strict about it The campus is very spacious but climbing so many stairs without lift is VERY HARD. if only they could fix that I think everything would have been fine. Amity University, Kolkata from a btech biotechnology

I didn't apply for any other colleges though I thought of Adamas and Heritage. But I got to know since the last few years only marketing placements are being provided by the other colleges which I wouldn't prefer in future being a btech biotechnology student. Amity has better opportunities and placements which I heard from my friends who were already studying. I was a dropper student and I didn't want to take one year of risk so J got into this college for partial drop so that even If I don't get , I would still have a good opportunity .
