Remarks

The college in overall is better than most institutes in India but it still has a long way to go. It's an average engineering college.

Entrance Preview

IIT JEE, I scored 6700 Rank in JEE Advanced and I was interested in core engineering branches hence I opted for civil engineering at ISM Dhanbad.

Course Curriculum Overview

3

The course structure is mostly applied meaning hereby that there is little room for research. Although certain research-oriented disciplines have their fair share of research-oriented curriculum, for engineering disciplines, the area of research is limited as per the course structure. If one is explicitly interested in research then they should opt for B.Sc degree or for Ph.D. and all that.

Internships Opportunities

The college doesn't provide internship per se but the college arranges for internship tests given by various companies. Those who qualify the tests of the respective companies are selected for the Summer Internship.

Placement Experience

3.5

Placement opportunities at our college are widely varied. In some disciplines like CSE, MINING, MINING MACHINERY, the placements are 100% or even more than that with an average package of 9-12 lakhs per annum. While in certain other disciplines, the placements and job opportunities are skewed and quite dilapidated. Among the disciplines with marvelous placements, the companies that hire them are quite renowned like, Microsoft, Adobe, Samsung, Goldman Sachs and in some other disciplines even PSUs hire students including COAL INDIA LIMITED, ONGC and some others.

College Events

4

There are various fest that is organized at our college- 1. Khanan- it is related to mining events and is organized by the Mining Department of our college. 2. Concetto - it is the technical fest of our college and is quite fun to beat. 3. Srijan - this is the cultural fest of out institute and is the best of the lot.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee structure is lax and it depends on the annual income of your family. If your family income is greater than a certain amount, then you have to pay the total fee but if you are from a low economic background then you can avail fee waiver of either 66% or 100% though you will have to pay for the mess fee. Besides there are various scholarships available for students to avail, some of which are merit based so you can avail them if fee bothers you that much. You can also apply for the interest-free loans for college fee payment.

Fees and Financial Aid

I couldn't avail any loan facility or scholarship but a lot of students do and it's rather easy to avail. MCM, MOMA are some scholarship programs available at the institute and one can avail them but for that, you have to score a certain GPA and your family income needs to be less than a certain amount then only would you be eligible for the scholarship.

Campus Life

3

The campus is lovely and so is the campus life, you can enjoy quite a lot. Basketball facilities, indoor badminton facilities, swimming pool, squash stadium, playgrounds, football grounds, gymnasium and some other facilities are available at the institute. The gender ratio, as a matter of fact, is skewed at our college and it's not surprising considering the number of girls who opt for engineering in India but one has to make do with that.

Hostel Facilities

2

Hostel facilities and mess food are far from good. They can be improved manifolds and are not good. Although the electricity would never be a problem some other facilities are sore to the eye. Here they have double accommodation i.e. two pupils are allowed in a single room, so that's a con if you are eccentric and self-reserved kind of person. Moreover, the internet facilities aren't available 24*7 so that's another drawback.

Alumni/Alumna

As mentioned earlier, certain disciplines enjoy far diverse alumni network than certain recent ones so some branches do have very vast alumni network and they are quite helpful in organizing college fests and all other things, moreover, the seniors here are quite helpful so that wouldn't be a problem.

Exam Structure

Exams are held at regular intervals of two months, mid-semester examinations and end semester examinations. Though the exam schedule is a bit tight, it's not that stressful and is manageable so no need to worry about that. Laboratories are frequent and a bit hectic but perhaps that is necessary.

Admission

One has to first fill up the form of IIT JEE, the examination is conducted in April after the commencement of AISSE, the examination is a two-fold process. Firstly students have to take JEE Mains in which they ought to qualify to be eligible for taking JEE Advanced. In JEE Advanced, they have to secure a rank within the cutoff to get admission into any of the IITs.

Faculty

2.5

The faculty here at our college are average or at times below average. Though in some disciplines, they are a marvel and are quite good at what they do but in certain other disciplines, they are new, inexperienced and not that intelligent either. All the disciplines at the institute which have recently started also suffer from the death of teachers that makes the situation further worse.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Actually my branch is Electronics and communication engineering but my major interest lies in development area , i have gained all the skills in my college by my own taking some guidance from the seniors as they are very helpful and supporting. Improvements in course curriculum could be like they have to basically add one more course or any training program to help students for making skills and teaching them for their placements.(apart of the course , i am saying not because i am from ECE department , its common from any branch student)
