I appeared in IIT-JEE Mains in the year 2017. I scored 155 and opted for mechanical engineering in nit Silchar since Mechanical engineering is one of the most reputed branches in nit Silchar with good academics and placements.

The course of Engineering varies with departments. We will get to know and apply the various applications in real life. Though still, the curriculum follows old syllabus there are modern technologies which are developed and need to follow the new one. This is a major drawback to all the engineering colleges who are still not updated with new syllabus.

Yes, NITS has an active Training and Placement cell which will provide internships at various organizations. Also, internships can be found off campus and the TnP will provide with NOC instantly. The stipend will vary with organizations.

Placement of NITS is so good. Some of the past recruiters of NITS are-- DirectI Goldman Sachs People Interactive Polaris PwC Reliance JIO Samsung R & D SAP Labs Wells Fargo Along with IT COMPANIES NITS students are recruited by many PSUs too - IOCL, BPCL, HPCL, PWGCIL, etc This year highest was offered to CS students with a package of 22 LPA to two students.

The most important part of our college i.e., technical and cultural festival of NIT Silchar. There are four major festivals in nit Silchar - 1) incandescence the annual cultural fest of nit Silchar. it is one of the most awaited events of the college. this falls in the month of February. students from various college from all over the country participate in this festival. 2) tecnoesis is the technical festival of nit Silchar. this fest falls in the month of October. here we see young and energetic minds showing their skills. various events like robotics, paper presentations, quizzes & lots of exciting events take place for a span of three days. 3) thundermarch is the annual metal fest of nit Silchar. it falls in the month of February-march along with incandescence and features enthralling and earth-shaking performances by various metal bands from India as well as famous international bands.

Fee structure varies for students with different family income. Students of reserved caste have 100% Fee Waiver. Students of Family income below 1 Lakh also enjoys 100% fee waiver. Students whose family income varies from 1-5Lacs have a higher fee but lower than those whose family income is above 5 Lacs. Per semester including Hostel fees is approx 1Lacs for a student whose family income is above 5 Lacs. It is not so feasible since we have to pay 2 Lacs per year.

Special loans are offered to economically backward students not by the institution but by State Bank at a very low-interest-rate since NITS is a college of National Importance. Also, various scholarships are provided to students having their family income less than a certified amount. Also, special scholarships are provided to SC/STs.

1. NIT Silchar spread over 625 acres with about 19 lakes, tea garden, a big auditorium, 9 boys hostel,3 girls hostel and PG hostel for boys. 2. NITS has Asia's biggest digital library. NITS has various societies and clubs. All those things that I will mention here are based on my personal experience as a first-year student who spends around 8 months at NIT Silchar as a CSE Dept student. View from PG hostel at evening is awesome 4. Seniors are very helpful and we call our seniors only Bhaiya / Didi. No Sir/Mam. 5. Indie lake of NITs is awesome. 6. NITS has its own Health Centre with ambulance facility of 24*7. 7. Guest House of NITS is so good. 8. NITS has Gym, KV School, NITS Cafe, FPS(fair price shop) where you get all your basic need.

The Hostels are the best for the 1st year students. There are total 8 Boys hostels and 3 Girls hostel . 2 Newly constructed hostels are about to get completed. The food in mess is average. You cannot expect as good as the food at home but yeah the food is eatable and will be satisfied.

We have a good junior-senior culture in NITS. NITS is a ragging free campus with no ragging and we call our seniors bhaiya and didi. NITS has a good alumni network. Students of NITS are working at big companies and also has their own startups. Ex:- GoIbibo co-founder has completed his BTech from NITS

We have two main exams in a semester. We have midterms 30 Marks in the middle of the semester and end semester 50 marks at the end of a semester. Other than these exams we have minor exams of 10 Marks for each subject. And class tests can occur at any time as the teacher wants.

To get admission in a institute of National Importance one has to clear JEE MAINS . Then we need to feel our choices such as branch and college in a different website JOSSA .They will give you seats according to your jee ranks . Counselling starts after declaration of JEE ADVANCED .

Faculties are quite good here. Faculties differ from branch to branch. There are junior professors also who can be approached easily and also Ph.D. scholars can be approached at any time. Faculty of NITS is good
