Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum focused heavily on theory rather than practical labs, which might not adequately prepare students for real-world applications. The theory-heavy approach influenced my decision to choose the course, but I believe adding more practical sessions would be beneficial. While the curriculum prepares students for further academic pursuits, it could be improved by including more hands-on projects or internships to bridge the gap between theory and practice. The exams, held every 4 to 6 months per semester, were fair but could be challenging for average students. Providing extra support resources could help students better prepare for exams. Overall, balancing theory and practice and adjusting the difficulty level to support all students would enhance the curriculum.
Internships Opportunities
While specific internship opportunities may vary each year, our college has collaborated with various companies to provide valuable internship experiences for students. Some notable companies that have offered internships include: Infosys, Wipro etc
Placement Experience
Starting from the sixth semester, placement training becomes a focal point in preparing students for upcoming campus placements. Companies like Infosys have been part of the recruitment process, along with Wipro, offering various roles to eligible students. The placement training focuses on enhancing students' aptitude, technical skills, communication abilities, and interview preparation to increase their chances of securing placements successfully. In terms of my plans after completing the degree, I will continue to engage in placement training and actively seek opportunities for internships or projects to gain practical experience and enhance my skills. Additionally, I will explore options for further studies or certifications to stay competitive in the field.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee structure for NIA students is up to 1 lakh per year, for management students it's 70k, and for merit students, it's 50k annually. For students benefiting from caste reservation along with merit, the annual fee is less than 5k. Additionally, there are OBC scholarships available for students belonging to that category.
Campus Life
My campus life experience was vibrant and engaging, with various social, technical, and extracurricular activities enriching my journey. The annual tech fest, Satvi, stands out as one of the biggest events among colleges in Kerala, fostering a dynamic atmosphere of innovation and creativity. Additionally, department-specific tech events like TechKranti for CSE students and Yantra, Udbhava, etc., for other departments provided opportunities for showcasing technical prowess and collaboration. The library offered a wide range of books and journals, enhancing academic research and learning. The accessibility of these resources was commendable, supporting students in their academic endeavors. Classrooms were well-equipped with modern facilities and technological provisions, facilitating interactive learning experiences. This technological infrastructure contributed to a conducive learning environment for students. The NSS unit engaged students in community service activities.
Admission
For my admission process, I applied for the course through the ktu website. The eligibility criteria were clearly stated on their website. I took the KEAM entrance exam, which had a reasonable difficulty level. The application form was available on the college website. The exams were conducted within a span of 4 to 6 months per semester. However, the reservation benefits could have been more transparent, and the application process could have been streamlined further to reduce any ambiguities or delays. Improvements could be made in providing more detailed information on reservation benefits and simplifying the application process to make it more user-friendly.
