Glimpses of GEC

My course is Electronics and Communication engineering. First of all i like this course . I like to work on semiconductor devices, antenna and communication system etc so i choosed this cource but our academic curriculum is strictly theory oriented .good practical knowledge is not we get from this. Teaching method should change. Exam timing of 3hr should not measure our knowledge with respect to a subject. Most of the students in our university failed due to this kind of examination. They have enough practical knowledge from lab sessions but they can't have enough abilities to write those things in answer booklet

For Electronics and Communication students, radio mango provide opportunities for internship during second and third years . Other telecommunication companies provides internship opportunities. For mechanical students a company which makes parts of train (forgot name) in bengaluru provides internship opportunities. In applicatied electronics and instrumentation students, many instrument companies provides opportunities.

There are many companies come for civil, mechanical branch students mainly. In medical field instrument manufacturing companies aieded Applied Electronics and instrumentation students. In our college a placement officer is charged and he assists students for placements. In electronic 0ut of 70 students 10 of them are only placed in the last year. Even though placed students are not in core field they are all in it field. It is mainly due to unaware of coreareas during study time. my plan after btech degree is mainly mtech. But in first two years placed in a electronics company then preparing for gate exam

GEC Kozhikodeis purely under the government of Kerala. Students get admission on the college only through an entrance called KEAM. Students who qualified keam and have a rank upto 20k could only get admission in government colleges. The fee structure of our college is comparatively very less compares to private self financing college. It's around 9000 every year which includes exam fees of each semester 4500 something only. The college have a ladies hostel which is under the control of government. Hostel has enough facilities . A study room for inmates , A room contains 6 inmates and 6 studytable and bed for them. Tasty and healthy food (4times in a day) which is budget friendly. Hostel fees including mess, rent, establishement around 3000 in a month. Boys does not have hostel under government control. A Scholarship named egrantz provided by government of amount 10000 for students who doesn't have supply.

Now i'm a first year student going to 3rd sem. Our college had a Annual tech fest named lakshya it's a 3day fest on 2024 March 1,2,3,. In lakshya had many workshop on AR, VR, metaverse, IOT home Application, Blockchain etc. Tech talk session from isro supervisor, founders of many companies took part in the fest. Autoshow conducted by mechanical department is the main highlight of the show.Night Pro show is the attraction of youth of The city. Nss is the other important part of the college life we have 2 units on nss. Nss volunteers conducted many programs like blood donation, hair donation, eye test on normal people, quiz competition, college surrounding cleaning. Main highlight of NSS unit of GECK is a program called 'PATHEYAM'. Every Friday afternoon nss volunteers collect food from dayscholars and give them to people who doesn't have food its a good and mind blowing service of nss volunteers

A room contains 6 bed, 6chair and 6 study table for 6 students. 2bathroom for 24 students there are 3 floor in hostel. It includes 50 seats for first, third and fourth years. Limited seats are only for second years. So most of the second years are in PGs. Limited seat is considered for scst category students mainly. Mess hall is comparatively large. At a time 150 student can enjoy their food there. Morning may be dosa or idli Or puttu Or uppmav Or chapati Or poori with tea and coffee. In lunch choru with 3/4 tasty curry and in dinner chicken for 2 days, egg, fish, are in a week.

Students should pass higher secondady with 40%on physics, chemistry and mathematics. And qualify an entrance exam conducted by government of Kerala named KEAM in online mode. Students of general category have a rank up to 20000 and scst category have rank upto 3000k can join this college through stepwise application procedure. Application is strictly through online mode. Faculties members need to be more friendly and talk things that help students to improve their professional as well as individual life in a easiy way other than theory classes. Tuotors must visit their students atleast once in a week and give them good advices to overcome stress they face during their academics.
