Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum was comparatively easy to learn when compared to the same syllabus of other universities. This was my personal reason to choose MGU. In some subjects such as accounting and financial markets, the curriculum was accurate and has real world applications whereas subjects such as business management and EDP were not as relevant to today's business environment . The area that I feel needs improvement is in the correction and evaluation of exam papers. There are incidents were errors occur while evaluation and it is also a time consuming process. If a student has failed and exam, he can only reappear for it in the next academic year. These are the only negative aspects that I found.
Fees and Financial Aid
The tution fees is comparatively low and it varies from college to college in this university. It depends on the management unless you are recruited via merit process. If that is the case, you do not have to pay any kind of fees. Otherwise the fee structure varies depending on the management. In my case the total tuition fees was only 60k and my overall expenses only came to around 72k. Some of the compulsory charges include uniform , exam fees, and other unofficial expenses. Some colleges offer various scholarships whereas mine has none. I have participated as the cultural secretary of my college but has never been paid once as it is a duty that I have undertaken.
Campus Life
My college conducted multiple fests such as food fest, annual sports meet, freshers day, and other events regarding cultural programs. The library has a vast collection of books that are very interesting and the classrooms are technically advanced with smart boards and projectors. The sports events offered on campus included kabaddi, cricket, football, badminton and tennis. Keep in mind , this can change depending on the college.
Admission
You should have atleast 55% in 12th grade to be eligible for admission in any degree course. The application details can be found in the official website of Mahatma Gandhi University (mgu.gov.in). The exams are conducted 3 times a year viz. March, September and December. The admission process is very effective and user friendly.
Faculty
The faculty was quite efficient. The faculty to student ratio was 1:50 which is not bad in my opinion. Each member of the faculty was atleast an assistant professor which meant that the standard of education was excellent. They were very helpful and would often go beyond their duties to make sure the students understood what they were being taught.
